AIBU?

to be a bit sick of reading "don't you know there's a --war-- recession on?!" on here?

An AIBU about AIBU, I know...

It's starting to grate that whenever a thread comes up about some minor, but nonetheless perplexing parenting question, a large proportion of the responses include something like, "Is that all you have to worry about? Seriously, don't you know we're in the biggest financial crisis of all time/the icecaps are melting/children are starving in Africa?" I've had a few of those responses myself and roll my eyes because even though I was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, am having counselling to save my marriage and am perilously close to being made redundant, I still care about DS and the little things that affect his life.

Are we not allowed to post about minor annoyances anymore?

You should all be knitting ice cubes to send to the Arctic or something.

As well as competitive martyrdom, there's the occasional competitive charity giving. Grin

YANBU except if the petty irritation being cited by the OP is workmen shitting in their loo. Then the OP is being irredeemably unreasonable and deserves to receive a 3 hr lecture on the current economic shit pit we're all in.

Indeed Manicbmc - I've just dropped off all my designer clothes at Oxfam. I know i could have sold them on ebay and paid the electric bill but there are children starving in the third world you know and of course there's a recession so lots of people will be delighted to get my cast offs at such a reasonable price.

The meerkats are bourgois fat cats as far as I'm concerned. They have dressing gowns while the rabbits are locked in freezing hutches hounded by foxes.

Generally YANBU, but one or two threads do make me roll my eyes and wonder why the OP is getting in such a tizzy. :)

Susanne, you made me win my own game of Bingo on the other thread. Just sayin' :) But I cheated to get the charity bit in so it's ok.

There are plenty of threads that make me roll my eyes. I usually avoid them.
