i am in the process of losing weight at the mo(over two stones so far ) so am taking more excercise .i was cycling to work this morning and someone said that people like me should not be allowed on a bike aibu to be pissed off by this comment as i am doing something positive with my life

Cycling is for everyone - you can (and have done!) lose weight but he will be a boil on the arsehole of humanity forever. Don't let idiots put you off!

You make me feel more than a little guilty - I'm in the process of slimming down and I still don't have the courage to bike to work. I wish I did!

OP I totally sympathise. Last year I was cycling 15 miles to work and back daily. Apart from losing loads of weight and toning up, it was a real eye opener. I rode a proper road bike, wore (and will again, once I have this baby!) all the kit, had lights, reflectors etc and averaged about 18mph. The comments were unbelievable - I was called a fat twat, slag, lesbian (wtf), had every part of my body commented on, show us yer tits etc. Once I gave someone the finger for screaming "get off the road" and they slammed on the brakes to try and get me to run into the back of them. Never heard of any of this happening to a male cyclist!!

Sorry that should have read 30 miles - 15 there and back again. Plenty of time on the road for people to shout at me
