to be shocked to receive an abusive private message on Tripadvisor

I posted a few reviews yesterday that got published this morning. Some were good but but here was one place I'd been to where the staff were really not great and I said so, describing what I'd seen and experienced.

After I sent the post I read through the other bad reviews and I noticed that the manager almost always responds but usually by trying to discredit the reviewer e.g. in one response she points out that the person was a not the bill payer, so they had no grounds for complaint that their room was dirty/ food was cold etc.

Today I get a private message from someone telling me to mind my own business and I am slightly shocked!

Its good that others can see your post if they research the hotel.

i posted a reivew of a place where my best friend got married. The service was shocking and lucikly my firend is quite relaxed. The maitre d disappeared half way through the speeches so the groom had to introduce himself. I asked for a cot and got a camping bed - ended up putting it up myself which is no joke is bridesmaid outfir. Wrote a fairly ok review but made some salient points. Think it hit home as reply was very defensive. If they cannot take the heat then they should stay out the kitchen !

My brother works for an hotel where bad reviews were posted by friends of a rival hotel. They didn't even manage to get the details right (referring to a bad meal which wasn't even available at the hotel ie not on the menu!) :( It dents the reputation of the hotel and results in lost earning

I reviewed a b&b on Tripadvisor that I didn't enjoy staying at but which was not bad (although the proprietor wouldn't put the heating on in the guest rooms on a rainy late October afternoon, despite having heating on in his part of the house).
I gave the b&b 4 stars, praised what was good, but mentioned what wasn't.
I got a pm back from the owner saying they were upset by my hurtful review. Virtually all the other reviews for the b&b gave it 5 stars and were from people who (suspiciously) had never reviewed anywhere else.

without opening it up again, I think it was "Oi! keep your nose out, nosey parker"!

I posted a negative review of a hotel on tripadvisor then got a couple of unpleasant PMs. I forwarded them on to Tripadvisor but they weren't interested
