To have been disgusted by this...

yesterday lunchtime I was in one of the main roads in Glasgow. I saw a small girl (probably about 5) squatting down on the pavement outside what I think was a bank. She was slightly shielded by a woman on a mobility scooter, who was talking to another woman with a pushchair with a smaller child in it.

My first thought was it is none of my business. Secondly, I thought, maybe I could have offered to take the child into my office's loo....but it was clearly a bit late for that. Anyway, I didn't do anything.

5 mins later I walk back. They have all gone and there was a big poo on the pavement.

Should I have done anything different? I was really shocked by this...even if it was an emergency, it was the centre of Glasgow, there are loos available. If the woman in the scooter was unable to take her to a loo, perhaps the other woman could have helped....and as I say, she was at least 5.

WWYHD? Should I have done anything differently?

I am intrigued now, is it poo or pooh?

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 14/10/2011 13:51

Surely it's -

Poo = shit

Pooh = Winnie

loveglove · 14/10/2011 13:52

if your kid is desperate for a poo/h you can nip into the nearest shop and say "can we use your loo, my 5 year old is desperate" only a real twat would refuse!

Just as a counterbalance to this story...

I know someone who shall remain nameless, who, when her toilet was out of order for a day poo-ed in a newspaper, tied it up in a plastic bag and then took it down the road to put in a public bin.

The next day she felt guilty thinking a binman might somehow have to touch it, went back, got it out of the bin, went home and buried it.

Gingefringe · 14/10/2011 14:02

Would they have had to pay for a plastic bag? We have to pay 5p for a bag around here!!

On a serious note though, that is disgusting - imagine treading in it and bringing back human shit on your shoe??

If my dog did that I'd be slated.

valiumredhead · 14/10/2011 14:14

Dogs I wouldn't challenge anyone who left dog shit either tbh, if they are so unreasonable as to do it in the first place, I'm certainly not wading in to start telling strangers what they should and shouldn't do, they aren't likely to listen to me!

It just made me laugh the way the OP asked what she should've done -

A - clear it up herself
B - tell the woman what she was doing was horrible
C - ignore it
D - start a thread on MN about it Grin

whackamole · 14/10/2011 14:32

That is nasty.

Whether the kid has toileting issues or not, the supervising parent should have made some effort to clean it up, if she didn't have any bags or newspaper to hand (and if there are issues then she should have) then she should have gone into a shop or even the bank and asked so she could get rid of it.

YANBU. Vile.
