AIBU for wanting to delete my fb friend for making me throw up a bit in my mouth

I just logged onto facebook to be faced with a wedding photo of my friend and her dh with the caption "5 years!! What an adventurous time we have had and so much to celebrate. Happy anniversary to my handsome and wonderful husband, ..."

Now I have just celebrated 6 years of happy marriage but if I posted this my dh and most of my friends would disown me. Why do people do this? Is she really that smug and show offish or are they secretly massively unhappy?

I am so tempted to press delete. AIBU?

YANBU, I have a FB 'friend' that I keep just to torture myself with his ickyness. He has just become a father for the first time and the last few months have been wall-to-wall pregnancy updates, all cutesy cutesy, drove me mad. I have 3DCs and am probably more jaded but never posted such drivel... Anyhow, since the baby has been born it seems he hasn't had much time for FB status updates. MWOR-OR-OR welcome to the world of parenting Grin

Hulababy · 13/10/2011 18:09

Is it a one off because it's their anniversary? Or do they say it all the time?

TBH it'd be pointless me saying anything to DH via FB as he isn't on FB anyway!

I may well have had a status earlier in the year that commented on it being my wedding anniversary - I don't go into gushing on FB though, so i would have been a statement f fact rather than a lovey dovey type on.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 13/10/2011 18:13

I did this on our anniversery. I am proud to be happily married to my husband, and I will not be shamed into keepinmg quiet about it!

stayforappledunking · 13/10/2011 18:13

Noone means what they post on fb anyways. After she posted that she probably hit him over the head with a shovel then buried him under the patio.

AuntiePickleBottom · 13/10/2011 18:15

maybe her husband fraped her Grin

Kytti · 13/10/2011 18:21

It's not like she's doing it every day. Stop being so miserable. I've been married for over eight years to the best man in the world! I think you're just a bit jealous. lol Have a drink and stop being so mean! :)

catgirl1976 · 13/10/2011 18:24

YABU - some facebook stuff is hideous (the words "hun" or "gawjuss" and any of those copy and pasted status updates) but there is nothing wrong with this!

NorfolkBroad · 13/10/2011 18:28

Ahhhh! I think that's sweet. I am absolutely mad about my DP and she is similarly demonstrative. I would probably post something similar!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 13/10/2011 19:00

I hate that 'little bit sick in my mouth' phrase more than any other. It's completely moronic and nullifies the saccharine posts completely. Horrible phrase! Angry

NoobyNoob · 13/10/2011 19:31

YABU - are you sure that it's not you who's secretly unhappy?!

They love eachother, she's proud that he's her husband, so why not.

runningwilde · 13/10/2011 19:37

Ooooo, what a lovely mate you are

NOT

fedupofnamechanging · 13/10/2011 19:45

I have a friend like this. She is a lovely woman but all her posts read like a 'mommy blog'. I don't get why people can't just enjoy whatever activity they happen to be doing without feeling the need to post a status telling us just how much fun they are having. Just get on with it already.

Love that phrase up thread 'the bigger the front, the bigger the back'.

SayGhoulNowSayWitch · 13/10/2011 19:53

Some people use Facebook like a diary which can be annoying to a lot of people especially when you have friends who post post-coital updates

but I have seen far ickier ones than the one you are describing.

YANBU for thinking to yourself, "Hey that's a bit schmaltzy," but YABU for being so bothered by it that you started a thread about it.
