Would you tellsomeone whose marriage proposal you had turned down a couple of years ago that you had been wrong and were in love with them? ( Despite the fact that he is now engaged to someone else)

He is also my cousin, and heir to the family inheritance.
What would you do?

OP posts:
grovel · 13/10/2011 11:38

You do know that your cousin does not approve of breastfeeding in public (or preferably at all)?

grovel · 13/10/2011 11:40

And he will almost certainly not encourage State school education for your children. Boarding at the age of 8 for any heirs...
He won't do anything around the house either.
You're better off without him.

FrightNight · 13/10/2011 11:42

whatever you do get your skates on. I predict a global flu epidemic coming your way in about 6 months (or just after the ads with the way time travels in Grantham) and there might only be you and Thomas left!

grovel · 13/10/2011 11:44

You should consider the MiL as well. Frumpy old interferer.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 13/10/2011 11:45

Get a move on, do, otherwise you might blink and find yourself under the blanket with the Major too - he's a bit of a cad, that one.

moraletotallydestroyedbypoopoo · 13/10/2011 11:46

Might not be such a bad thing if only you and Thomas were left...he is very attractive, in a cold, evil sort of way, and although he's gay he's going to need to marry a woman to cover it up at some point, isn't he?

Pentagram · 13/10/2011 11:47

I'd wait until Christmas - it will make for better timing. Think of all that lovely fayre....Oh and don't forget to pass around the Turkish Delights......

FrightNight · 13/10/2011 11:48

Well as long as he doesn't take his sinister glove off eeeew

lenak · 13/10/2011 11:49

Well, it's not like he's a first cousin Wink.

Get the butler to leave a note for him on his breakfast tray!

FrightNight · 13/10/2011 11:49

Pentagram we dont say the C word anymore, the war was supposed to over by then.

ClaraDeLaNoche · 13/10/2011 11:56

His current piece is a bit sexually repressed. Tell him you like Turkish lovin' filthy style and he will come running.

Do not worry about in breeding, it is part of your proud heritage.

Haggyoldclothbatspus · 13/10/2011 12:05
Grin You obviously love him, it just took you time to realise it! The same thing happened to me, (without the cousin/huge inheritance thing) and it took distance to make me realise how much I loved him. He was seeing someone else, but when I told him of my love, he realised that he returned my feelings. You only regret the things you dont do. Tell him. Or alternatively, sit back and wait for the script writers to do it for you! Wink
paulapantsdown · 13/10/2011 12:10

well if the war don't get im - the soon to arrive flu epidemic will so its all academic anyway

you are a little bit of a perv fancying your cousin though

BarkisIsWillin · 13/10/2011 12:36

Why don't you ask Granny what she thinks? She seems a game old bird.

ScarahStratton · 13/10/2011 12:39

It has taken me long to work out WTF you are all talking about. Blush

DaydreamDolly · 13/10/2011 12:41

Sarah, please enlighten me!

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 13/10/2011 12:44

Downton Abbey Dolly Grin

Snackbag · 13/10/2011 12:44

I'd wait until he returns from the war possibly fatally injured and then tell him when you think he's unconscious. He'll hear you and wake up and admit he's in love with you too.

Alternatively, if he find out about 'poor Mr Pamoooook' (to be said in proper northern accent) you're buggered, so to speak Wink

Snackbag · 13/10/2011 12:45

Finds out even.....

ScarahStratton · 13/10/2011 12:45

I love DA. I've only seen the last 2 episodes and I am hooked. I blame OliviaMumsnet, it's all her fault.

Moodykat · 13/10/2011 12:53

Tell him before newspaper man finds out about the Turkish man next week. Otherwise he'll think you are just saying it because no one else will marry you.

NorfolkNCovern · 13/10/2011 13:04

I concur with Snackbag, the whispering when unconscious truck will do just fine leading to a passionate embrace when Sir Ruchard and Lavvy walk in...

NorfolkNCovern · 13/10/2011 13:04

So many typos, damn phone...

FimBOOOOOO · 13/10/2011 13:06

Personally I think you should just jump him in the servants quarters whilst your lady maid keeps watch.

Haggyoldclothbatspus · 13/10/2011 13:21

Im not sure if theres any book based prior knowledge here, but remember the spoilers sweeties! Wink
