What ever happened to just going outside for a ride?

I think at nursery and school they're fine. It's like spinning. Spinning classes = fun. Sitting at home riding your exercise bike watching reruns of Curb your Enthusiasm = not so much

See now that one is just proof of the fact that kids aren't encouraged to have imagination these days.

Back in the day we didn't need a screen, we could imagine being on a race track as we pedalled in the street...

CristinadellaPizza · 12/10/2011 14:33

I was thinking that too Sidge but then thought it was a bit mean '10 mins on the exercise bike before you can have chips for tea' :o

On a serious note, it's probably not the best way to encourage a lifelong enthusiasm for exercise!

See I would say Sitting at home watching Curb your Enthusiasm while on the exercise bike = Funny,
Sitting in spin class watching the arse of the person in front = not fun Grin

This is what one site says about the bike

Child Exercise Bike. Features adjustable valve to increase or decrease the effort required. An electronic watch shows time, distance, energy and more, adds to the feel good factor when using the exercise bike. Solidly constructed from tubular steel with protective foam padding for comfort. Can be used indoors or outdoors subject to a suitable flat surface.

Suitable ages 3 -9 years. Maximum weight of 68 kg / 150lb. Approximate dimensions: 51 x 23 x 49 cm. Saddle height max is 46cm.

This range of children's fitness equipment is the fun way to help improve and maintain a child's fitness levels. It encourages active "play" in a safe environment and is ideal for use when helping your child lose weight, or to help promote and improve their general stamina and fitness. Trialed in the NHS, schools and sports clinics, it's now available to the domestic market. Of course, there's no substitute to your child having a healthy, balanced diet and an active interest in energetic activity, whether through sports, swimming, trampolining, dance or yoga, and it's important to encourage children of all ages into any of these activities where possible.
