to be utterly disgusted by the obvious exploitation of the UK Baby Beauty Queens by their mothers.

Well its only 10 minutes into the programme and I am completely vexed at a 7 yo having plastic surgery, a child being forced to wear contact lenses when it is clearly uncomfortable for her and basically the sheer shallowness of their beliefs.
How worrying for their self image if they build their lives on beauty........how are they going to feel as they age? Dealing with the normal process of wrinkles. It seems clear that the first mother was obsessed with her daughter making money and winning.........what happens to sporting competition and taking part?
Spray tanning and makeup = recipe for spots and an obsessi0on with fake tanning Shock

caramelwaffle · 11/10/2011 22:58

The winner barely had on mascara.

MollieO · 11/10/2011 22:58

I'm laughing too much to post. Grin

Icelollycraving · 11/10/2011 22:59

I would have had a Madison strop as well!

caramelwaffle · 11/10/2011 22:59

A total strop from little Madison. A real shame.

I love Sasha,

MollieO · 11/10/2011 23:01

I thought Sasha was lovely. Madison reminded me of my ds, who strops exactly like that if he doesn't get his own way!

caramelwaffle · 11/10/2011 23:01

Oh. Now I am laughing. That show comes directly before "page 3 models", or some such

AnxiousElephant · 11/10/2011 23:06

I think Sashas mum was about the most sensible of the lot! Glad she didn't sucumb to plaster on the makeup Smile. Glad she got confidence from it but then her mum hadn't built her up to win so it was just seen as fun.
The girl Maddison and the other one! Brats with a capital B.

The Scottish? northern woman really didn't get it when the commentator asked if she would change anything and really showed how shallow she was when she responded 'No, definately not, she looked beautiful tonight!' Errrr but her self-esteem is in tatters Angry

I think YANBU. This sort of thing is just too much . . . . wrong. However at the risk of being flamed. Ive had two boys and now I have a gorgeous little baby girlie and would just love to enter her in a baby contest. Nothing like make up and surgery and dancing, just a lovely "Bonny Baby" type contest where I can buy her a pretty dress and do her hair (fed up of muddy knees and grass stains from the boys!?!). Is that so wrong?

AnxiousElephant · 12/10/2011 00:39

I'm not against Bonny Baby or toddler even, when its just send a photo (I have done that and dd1 won!) but the whole making them look like little tramps is just awful Shock
