To think she's hardly a beached whale!

I was reading opinions on Christina Aguilera's weight gain elsewhere with a link to the Daily Turd website here...

www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2046954/Michael-Jackson-tribute-concert-Christina-Aguilera-hits-low-note.html

In all honestly I can see she's perhaps not the whippet-like figure she once was, but she's hardly a big old McFatty pig-dog.

AIBU to think that most human beings fluctuate in their weight in their lives and despite the fact she looks a bit bigger than she once was she still looks normal and hardly a "mess"? As a normal sized human myself I find this rather odd. Unless of course, they forgot to print the picture where she undoes the corsett and out pops and extra 20 stone of wibbly wobbly blubbery fat.

OP, you sound like you have ingrained weight issues. Seek help love

KatAndKit · 10/10/2011 11:11

But why should she have to maintain her weight and appearance at exactly a level deemed to be a suitable "role model"? It is her body and who doesn't put on a bit of weight sometimes in their lives? Her job is to be a singer, not to be a guideline for the correct weight for a young woman. Perhaps she doesn't look that great but why does her appearance have to be the most important thing. Women can't win. It's either too fat, too thin, bad choice of outfit, cellulite, hairstlye, whatever they want to pick on you for.

ZZZenAgain · 10/10/2011 11:11

she looks fine in the dress and her face looks pretty once the hair is off it a bit. In the fishnet, corset outfit with the mane of hair over her face tbh I didn't recognise her

nothingbyhalves · 10/10/2011 11:12

I stopped reading the daily hate years ago after on one page there was a story about a young girl who had died after loosing her battle with a eating disorder, and on the opposite page a picure of Cherie Blair on a beach high lighting her orange peel thighs. ( it was just months after she had given birth)

loveglove · 10/10/2011 11:13

bad outfit and puffy face - not surprising if she has an alcohol problem.

electra · 10/10/2011 11:13

It's typical of the Daily Mail to get the boot in at any woman whatever she looks like - I remember them saying Gwyneth Paltrow must be unhappy with her husband because she went out looking very good in a fab dress. They are misogynistic arseholes.

Christina has had a difficult few years I think with relationship issues. Nobody has the right to judge. But no, she doesn't look fat in any case.

LissieLovettsDeliciousPies · 10/10/2011 11:14

kitandkat, Im talking about our attitudes to weight. if she was a size 2 with matchstick arms and legs, we would be up in arms about how unhealthy it is to promote that sort of look. and agreeing fervently with the articles crying "Eating Disorder!" as it is, because she has a larger figure at the moment, most posters are appalled that she is being criticized.

KatAndKit · 10/10/2011 11:17

But she is not "promoting a look" - she is singing. That just happens to be her weight at the moment, for whatever reason. If she was very thin, that doesn't mean she is "promoting a look" either, just that she happens to be that size herself, perhaps by her own choice, but it is still her body.

Why do we think a celebrity is "promoting" their weight? I am not going round "promoting" being a size 18 to any kids that I teach. i just happen to be a bit overweight. I'm not advertising it to others.

She is not medically overweight anyway. Admittedly she doesn't look her best but then she is older than she was.

worraliberty · 10/10/2011 11:18

The thing is if celebs are going to parade themselves in air brushed photo after air brushed photo in magazines, they have to expect a few shocked reactions when the public are shown the real them.

It's all well and good lapping up the false admiration and the magazine deals but the press will print real photos from time to time so they can't realistically expect the whole charade to continue forever.

forehead · 10/10/2011 11:19

Deffo the booze. She's bloated, not fat. She needs to cut out the sauce.
She also dresses really badly.

worraliberty · 10/10/2011 11:19

But it's the OP that's making a thing about her weight...far more than the Daily Mail has done.

They've basically pointed out she looks messy and she chose the wrong outfit...the OP has gone way further than that.

squeakytoy · 10/10/2011 11:20

But she is not "promoting a look" - she is singing

Of course she is promoting her looks.. image is a major part of being a pop star.

And to be fair, her singing recently has not been all that great either.

MistyMountainHop · 10/10/2011 11:21

poor christina

she is hardly FAT!

bloody dm.

KatAndKit · 10/10/2011 11:22

No, I agree, her singing is fairly crap too but that is irrelevant.

What a shame that image is more important than talent though. Says a lot about our society really.

Bugsy2 · 10/10/2011 11:23

I thought she looked & more importantly sounded great on the Moves Like Jagger video that was just at No 1 for the last couple of weeks.

KatAndKit · 10/10/2011 11:24

And any way, if she is "promoting" a weight it isn't a bad one. I bet her bmi is still below 25, therefore healthy for her height. She might be promoting a dreadful outfit but she is not the only offender on that one. The skinny pop stars often wear stuff just as cheap and sleazy.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead · 10/10/2011 11:25

does anyone else think she looks more like dolly parton as she ages?

btw, i think she looks good, just older than she used to no shit!?

she looks better in the fishnets than i would!! Grin

Iggly · 10/10/2011 11:27

Easy solution - don't read that shit website or newspaper. Don't even click the links.

EricNorthmansMistress · 10/10/2011 11:41

Her hair looks crap and the leotard isn't flattering. Her figure looks great in the pencil skirt. I think the leotard was ill advised TBH.

ZZZenAgain · 10/10/2011 11:48

the angle doesn't help. Not many of us look good photographed from below
