Try the old tooth pulling trick with the abcessed fucker lurking at the back of my mouth?

I am waiting for the final RCT, it's been bad for ages and the treatment is on it's way to being finished. However due to my jaw/tooth alignment the dentist cannot do enough so it will be permanantly saved - maybe a few years at most. Sad

WWYD? I can ring Monday and ask for it out or stick with the AB, painkillers and wait the 2 weeks and try the RCT.

I really want advice as in my tired, emotional and in pain state I can't think straight.

Oh I've had similar - one of my back molars cracked and got a nasty infection - I strongly suggest try to find an emergency dentist in your area (as many others have suggested). The ones in my area were able to see me that evening, and they dealt with the problem wonderfully. So much relief having that thing pulled. Hoping you get relief soon whatever you do!

Do it, do it, do it!

Boo - glad something's helped.

On the reflux issue - Omeprazole is one of the top ten nutrient depleting drugs on eof the main nutrients is leaches being calcium. I took it for a while as I too suffered bad reflux.

I can really, really recommend taking a course of Mastika instead, worked for me and actually haven't needed to take more than a few Rennies here and there since. You take it just before bed, and it provides a coating on your esophagus, allowing the cells to regenerate in damaged areas and other clever stuff, like getting bit of the bacteria that causes it all (see helicobacter pylori below).

well the dihydrocodeine will help more but it can make you drowsy so don't drive if you feel sleepy

when you are tired everytihng feels much worse,
most dental on call is not 24 hour anything at night is seen at A&E but that means major trauma to teeth, swelling starting to make swallowing or breathing difficult or post-operative bleeding , it does not mean pain or toothache or chipped teeth or lost crowns

BOOareHaunting · 08/10/2011 21:34

Thanks again. Tablets really helped for about 3 hours. Is getting painful again so will ue Ibuprofen

RIZZO thanks for that link. I only take omeprezole when needed. I will make an appointment with my GP and discuss the tablets you suggested. Or are they herbal? Not that that will stop me taking them! I think because of my teeth problems they will change to these if perscription. I am also aneamic which affects teeth too.

It's one big vicious cycle and i'm sure the lactulose I use to take didn't help. Which is why I stopped.

No, they're 'alternative'.

And they bloody work! You may find you only need one course anyway. Best of luck.

sarahtigh · 08/10/2011 22:02

you can only take 4 dihydrocodeine a day ( 30mg tableets) so make sure you save one for just before you go to bed so at least you get off to sleep

Scaredconfusedexcited · 08/10/2011 22:03

I feel for you so much :(

I had 2 infected teeth a few months ago, my mum found my rocking back and forward on my bed totally out my face on painkillers at one point.

I gave birth to a 9.1lb baby with no pain relief and that was a pleasure compared to the toothache.

My tips would be Clove oil (I think it must be unicorn pee in a bottle-the stuff is liquid miracle!) and brushing really hard with your toothbrush if you get to the head banging stage.

BOOareHaunting · 08/10/2011 22:08

sarah I have had 2. saving the others till about midnight so I can get a good run of sleep in a go. iyswim?

rizzo thanks. I will give them a try, I think I may try calcium supplements too.

scared Thanks for clove oil suggestion. I have tried TCP! but will try that too.

clove oil does work it is part of the active ingredients in a sedative dressing type of temporary filling use on small bit of cotton wool more ids not better if you use too much and it gets on gum can get chemical burn ( which i have seen really nasty examples of from people putting aspirin on gum next to tooth)

hope you slept better

Grumpystiltskin · 09/10/2011 12:23

Hope you get it sorted, I'm having a rare weekend off from OOH clinic!

This is why we bang on about "prevention" so much it's soooooo frustrating when someone comes in & says:

"This filling fell out while I was on holiday in May & now I have horrendous toothache but I'm going on holiday tomorrow so can you make it better please?"

Um, well I can try but we can't guarantee it will be pain free-if you had got it fixed in May, you wouldn't have this problem now.

OP, I'm not saying this is what's happened in your situation but over half the folk I see on Sundays tell me this. Second what saratigh says about chemical burns. They can be pretty nasty. Swilling paracetamol around the tooth would be like sticking one to your forehead if you had a head ache. No use at all.

BupcakesandCunting · 09/10/2011 13:14

How are you feeling today, Boo? Did you manage to get any sleep?

BOOareHaunting · 09/10/2011 20:06

Hi. I managed to sleep from midnight until 6am. Felt like forever!!

I took some more dihydrocodiene at 6am and AB at 8am. Then have had Ibuprofen and paracetamol today. I cannot cope without painkillers Blush BUT the painkillers are now working so hopefully the infection is going. I have 4 more AB left.

I rang OOH dentist and it took an 1 and 45 minutes for it not to be engaged and talk to someone and by then all the slots had gone. Can't work it out but because I am on AB it's not a priority emergency as I'm being treated and 1/2 way through RCT.

I will ring my dentist tomorrow and see if I can move my appointment forward. I'll speak to HT of my school and say how important it is and he may not mind me having the time off for an appointment. It is emergency treatment now I would have thought.

On an up note feeling better I went with my friend and our DC's to kids club cinema this morning and watched My Poppers Penguins - it was very very funny and laughing made me feel better in myself. We then took DC's to the park.
