If you could choose would you rather be a woman or a man? After weighing it up I think it would be better to be a man, aibu?

advantages of being a woman
1 dont have to shave our faces twice a day
2 dont have to worry about stray erections when we dont want them.
3 no presure to be macho
4 no presure to man up and get on with it
5 we can blame our moods on pmt when infact we are just being moody cows
6 we dont have to buy your oh an engagemnt ring
7 as a woman i will always know my child is mine
8 as a woman it is always my choice whether or not any child i concieve is born
9 i can fake it to get it over with quicky if i lose interest

i could go on but i am sure you get the picture

cantspel · 04/10/2011 21:16

Baker no i never feel insecure around other women or men for that matter.

I am truely happy with myself and my life.

spilttheteaagain · 04/10/2011 21:17

On a fairly immature note I would love to try having a penis for a day. Always wondered what that must be like...

BakerBinky · 04/10/2011 21:21

I always think its funny to think I have grown two penises inside me, ha!

Me too split!

I said to DH if we could both swap gender for the day it would be intresting to, erm, try things out, just to see what it felt like

This was his reaction: Shock

BakerBinky · 04/10/2011 21:25

cantspel - I wish I was more like you!

I have 2 sons as well and i love having boys but a number of my friends asked if i was going to have another to try for a girl.

Sometimes as a mum of boys you are made to feel like you have somehow missed the holy grail of having a mini you.

BakerBinky · 04/10/2011 21:29

I have a daughter and am desperate to instill confidence in her so she doesn't have to feel she needs make up or diets or 'nice' clothes to feel special

Baker my brothersays i live in my only little happyness bubble and wishes he could be more like me but he takes after our mum and is quite stressy and worries along the same lines you do but from a male perspective.

I am quite laid back and tend to dismiss anything that i view of no importance.

tyler80 · 04/10/2011 21:33

YABU - testicles look so uncomfortable!

Trills · 04/10/2011 21:34

If you are thinking about this sort of thing you might enjoy chatting in the Feminism section.

YABU or YANBU depending on your situation and temperament. I think my life would not be better if I had been born male.

cantspel · 04/10/2011 21:35

But these days it can be the same for young boys.
My youngest lad is nearly 14 and he is very fashion consious. His hair has to be just right and he is desperate to develope muscle. He is quite skinney and gets fed up of people commenting on it.

rycooler · 04/10/2011 21:39

I'd like to go into my local pub and order a pint, then go and sit quietly in the corner and read the sports pages - I can't do that as a woman.

cantspel · 04/10/2011 21:42

rycooler why cant you?

I have been in many a pub on my own and sat with a drink and either read the paper or a book.

Trills · 04/10/2011 21:44

I think often we put restrictions on ourselves that don't really exist.

rycooler · 04/10/2011 21:49

cantspel - I just wouldnt dream of it - I'd feel like people were staring at me.

cantspel · 04/10/2011 21:57

So you are puttting restrictions on yourself rather than society putting them on you.

In this day and age it is really not unusual to see a woman on her own in a pub.

redyam · 04/10/2011 21:59

I know I'm probably not being very supportive here but...
Here are the advantages of being a man:

Can pee standing up
Physically stronger
No bags of fat on the chest bouncing around
Short hair is socially acceptable, and a hell of a lot easier to manage
Less likely to be raped
Less likely to be abused as a child
Can grow a beard or mustache if wanted
Earns more money
Taken more seriously
Doesn't have a grow the child
No pregnancy worries
Orgasms are easier
No need to wear makeup
Faster metabolism, can eat anything
Less emotional more logical (?)
No periods
No pmt mood swings
No harassment when out and about
Can get away with walking home alone at night

rycooler · 04/10/2011 22:39

Really cantspel?

MrBloomsNursery · 04/10/2011 22:44

Yes, I understand where you're coming from. I think it would be easier to be a man, because then I wouldn't have to wax my legs, armpits, arms, tache and chin every other day. I would grow a beard and not have to worry about people looking at me and thinking "eugh, facial hair"!!!!!!

Petisa · 04/10/2011 22:45

The only thing I envy about men is that they are less vulnerable if they decide to go for a hike up a mountain or a walk in the woods by themselves. Or if they decide to travel the world alone.

Petisa · 04/10/2011 22:47

Cba shaving though. Or being "manly" or competitive with other men.

BelleDameSansMerci · 04/10/2011 22:47

God, I'd hate to be a man. I think women have a particular strength and I would hate to be without it. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. We're fab. Grin

tinkertitonk · 04/10/2011 22:49

The question is meaningless unless you ask: which man? Being George Clooney is not the same as being a trainspotter who has given up after unceasing rejection.
