AIBU to think parent and child parking....

Should be for parents of young children only.

For the second week running, every parent and child space at my local supermarket has been taken and I have been pipped to the post for one space by someone with school aged children. It really gets my goat. I have one 7mth child and really need the extra width to navigate the car seat and baby. This afternoon I had to park miles away at a spot that was clear from other cars and carry the carseat through carpark traffic all the way in. Another lady with a child in a buggy had to do the same.

The supermarkets policy is children up to the age of 12 but I can't see why someone with a 7 and 10 year old needs that extra space. I think that its particularly rude given that they were also, presumably, were once struggling with a small child too.

It should be turned into diabled parking and any mother/child parking moved to the farthest point of the car park. There's a big campaign about it... Grin

There could be a hundred reasons why that family needed the space and they got there first. I can understand your frustration but it might be better directed in asking the supermarket to allocate more spaces.

Why are you taking the carseat? I have a 7 month old, she can now sit in the front of the trolley but before that she sat in the bucket seat. Where do you put the carseat and the shopping in the trolley?. My big local supermarket has all the parent and child spaces well away from the shop entrance anyway, its great no-one ever uses them, there's tonnes of space.

YABU, and that's from someone who uses one with a 7yo DS if they're free. They are a convenience - nothing more nothing less.

In actual fact the cunt man who decided to drive into a small carpark after me the other day and drive forwards into the space I was preparing to reverse into (and he knew it as there was a queue and that space had just been vacated as we waited) is fucking beyond U. Angry

That pisses me off more.

I've always thought of them as spaces for those with buggies tbh. So I'm not sure you're bring unreasonable. I wouldn't use one now my youngest is 4.

But, having said that, before having kids I was less considerate. I used to park in P&C bays as an 18 year old adult on my own because I did my shopping on the way home from drama rehearsals at 10pm. My reasoning was that if there were children in the shop then they shouldn't be!

No it won't sit in the trolley and I'm scared it might have a tantrum so I let it run wild round Waitrose.

I sometimes get it involved in choosing things from the shelves but to be honest since the sneaky bastards started stocking Polos at the till, it's a bit of a stressful experience.

As a parent with a child I always park in these spaces. DD (32) doesn't always accompany me though.
