to think the NHS wants me to have another baby?

I have been on a waiting list to replace my mirena iud for 5 months. It expires next month. Apparently I have an appointment next week that is a pre-appointment to refer me to the next 3 months waiting list. If I am very lucky, the GP (if he is present and feeling helpful) may change the IUD next week.

I am 37 years old. I have two kids. It will cost the NHS about £100 to keep me baby-free. I think they want me pregnant. Never mind the cost of my pregnancy, maternity leave, and the cost of a whole extra person!

I suspect this is the secret Tory plan to keep women out of work and running the schools and libraries for free. This will solve the unemployment figures and plump up the big society.

Okay, I don't really believe that the long waiting list for birth control is a Tory conspiracy. Well....not totally..........

It's your body and live so your responsibility. Your a grown woman and getting free contraception is a bonus, not a right. Buy condoms ffs!!!!

Oh for God's sake, I cannot believe that not a single poster has noticed the OP's tongue is firmly in her cheek. What's wrong with this place these days?"

What Robot said.

The OP is not being entirely serious, people. I hvae noticed this loads recently - people seem to want to squeeze the last drop of meaning out of every flippant comment. The "serious" message in the OP's post was that the IUD is her choice of contraception, and she is having to rely on back up in the meantime.

StealthPolarBear · 03/10/2011 13:37

What the hell is wrong with people at the moment? Has everyone taken a vow of gravity that I missed?

No...don't answer that... I know there was no vow of gravity etc etc

halcyondays · 03/10/2011 13:40

It's not the end of the world having to rely on back up for a while,is it? At least we live in a country where we have free and easy access to contraception.

MrsHuxtable · 03/10/2011 13:40

If she wasn't serious, I apologise. I'm German, I have no sense of humour!
