Windows are property as are dogs. People of course are not.

Yes people do come first, but not fucking numb skulls that shut a dog in a car on a red hot day!!

And any idiot that pressed charges against someone for saving their dogs life are not the type of people that i consider worthy of being put first!

Andrewofgg · 02/10/2011 19:16

Indeed Beer which is why we have laws against cruelty to animals but not against cruelty to windows.

3cute I'm not defending the tossers who left the dog in the car - but they are still people.

What if the flying glass killed the dog, btw?

3cutedarlings · 02/10/2011 19:27

Oh come on Andrew the type of people that neglect a dog like that are not the sort you should really be defending. I doubt very much the glass would harm the dog any more than maybe a few minor grazes, tis a no brainer in my book!! any person with a heart would have the window through in nano seconds!

NinkyNonker · 02/10/2011 20:06

People aren't advocating beating in the 'people' Andrew (though I'm sure it may be tempting), merely their window. In my book a window (inanimate, unfeeling, replaceable object) comes way below a dog, and yes people of course. But really, if they would risk their dog are they likely to cry over a broken window?

DooinMeCleanin · 02/10/2011 20:14

I'd phone the police and wait by the car untill they arrived. At the very first sign of the dog deteriorating or showing distress I'd break the window without hesitation.

They could sue me if they wanted, but I'm skint, so I doubt they or their insurers would get much. I can do my job with a criminal record. I don't much care for the well being of windows, dog otoh are very important to me.

NinkyNonker · 02/10/2011 20:24

If I were stupid enough to leave my dogs in a dangerous position I would be very happy, and grateful to anyone who took action to save them.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 02/10/2011 20:35

Andrewgg, I don't even particularly like feckin dogs, but of course I would break a car window to save one that was in trouble, surely that's a no-brainer?

'You would be sued/prosecuted for criminal damage' - people seem to imagine that the law is a lot less flexible than it is (mitigating circumstances anyone? lawful excuse defence?)
Also, it's a window. I doubt a court would award additional damages for distress, so you might have to pay the cost of the window. A MN whip-round would cover that I reckon.

Birdsgottofly, we were is tescos 20 mins, the owner was tannoyed so could of gave the child water to take out, child looked about 8, we did see 2 police officers heading for the shop as we were leaving.
glad its not just me.
don't understand why the boy could not have waited out of the car under shade with dog.

What NinkyNonker said... and Valhalla.
Andrew, a suffering dog that could so easily have been helped would weigh far more heavily on most dog lovers' consciences than a criminal record (which doesn't have much to do with 'conscience' really, does it? More to do with employment, social standing, etc.)
And similarly to what Boulevard said, wouldn't you be preventing the commission of a crime, or something?

NinkyNonker · 02/10/2011 20:50

I suspect you wouldn't have to be a dog lover to have it weight greatly on your conscience to be honest, I'd hope at least. I have dogs but would do it for pretty much any animal. (Yes, I would make an exception for a fly. Hmm) Andrew, could you genuinely stand by and let a dog die an agonising death for the sake of a pane of glass?? Astonishing if so.
