And then when I confront said people and ask them to please move, in a friendly, polite way, I get a mouthful of abuse / get told I am being unreasonable and or awkward, it all gets turned back on me as if I am in the wrong for asking them to move and not block my access in the future. I mean wtf, am I living in some strange new world where manners and private space no longer count! I am very rapidly losing patience and don't trust my response if it keeps happening. I know there are more important things in life but where had common decency gone?

Yeah, araldite mix with some colouring agent like paint dust etc. They'll need a new windscreen.
But if you're going that far you might as well smash it .

I had a situation when I lived in my last flat. There was limited numbered parking and we lived 1 mins walk from a mainline railway station.
There was this one guy in a blue golf that repeatedly parked in my space and parked in front of my car blocking me in once. I left a note saying he was welcome to park there while I was at work but could he make sure it was moved so I wasn't inconvieneced(sp) this did not work. So i left a slightly stronger note saying "seriously move your car" didn't work so I then said "If you fucking park here again I'll drag your car into the road and leave it there" this worked I thought two nice notes was plenty of warning.
