becuase it's too fricking hot outside.

30 degrees Shock

I think it's far too hot for them to be out between 1pm-3pm. and no matter how much sun cream I put on them, they seem to burn.

AIBU and precious ?

YANBU

Suncream doesn't protect from heat stroke.

snore off

halcyondays · 01/10/2011 10:52

Yanbu. Personally I can't stand being out in hot sun all day myself, it makes me grumpy and gives me a headache.

EdithWeston · 01/10/2011 10:52

It's a standard thing to do on sunny, hot days - regardless of which month they turn up in. Sunburn is dangerous whenever you burn.

Dawndonna · 01/10/2011 10:52

It's sensible.

FlossieFromCrapstonVillas · 01/10/2011 10:53

It'll be snowing next week, they go out at school, my children have survived so far.

GypsyMoth · 01/10/2011 11:03

Depends if they are at an age where you can 'control' them like that?

Mine will come/go as they please

HoneyPablo · 01/10/2011 11:05

YANBU
Suncream should be the last defence against the sun.

worraliberty · 01/10/2011 11:09

Depends on how old they are

4yrs = yes

14yrs = not so much

ChippingIn · 01/10/2011 11:11

For goodness sake - slap a hat, tshirt & sunscreen on them and let them be. They will come in or find some shade if they're too hot. You did say children not babies unable to move didn't you??

Shinyshoes1 · 01/10/2011 11:13

they are 14 and 10 and the 10 year old especially wont come in for drinks to rehydrate, the 14 year old is a little more sensible ,

thestringcheeseincident · 01/10/2011 11:16

Put sunscreen on and let them enjoy it. It's not the sahara desert.

Whatmeworry · 01/10/2011 11:22

14 and 10? If you meant months yanbu, but years? Hat, cream, shirt and a bellow from mum to come in for cold drinks is all you need.

worraliberty · 01/10/2011 11:24

OMG at that age I'd leave them alone Shock

I was being sarcastic when I said 14yrs...I honestly thought you were going to say they were little ones Blush

Just make sure they take drinks out with them and make sure they drink a fair bit before they go out.

Blimey, we survived through the drought in 1976 and all we had was the crappy water fountain at the park.

GypsyMoth · 01/10/2011 11:24

14and10???? this is for real?

GypsyMoth · 01/10/2011 11:25

I remember that summer well Worra!

FlossieFromCrapstonVillas · 01/10/2011 11:25

10 & 14?! Short of locking them in I'm sure they'll self regulate!

troisgarcons · 01/10/2011 11:26

Children arent that daft - or mine weren't - they never wanted to play outside between 11 and 3. Its different of course if you are out at the beach or park where they don't have the option to self regulate in the shade.
