Cannot find a care bear tablecloth.

I was thinking of ironing on transfers to a plain white table cloth - is this bonkers?

Copy, Print & Cut. Sorted.

Can you lay your hands on a laminator?
Loads of care bear images on line, table mats. Bit of messing with importing images in to word or graphics program and you can make the letters of happy birthday or DDs name with bears in the corners or something. One sheet a letter, hole punch and hang on sting.

Colouring sheets to give the children something to do.
Lots of different coloured plates and cups etc as rainbows feature heavily.
Loads of rainbow clip art online.

katz · 29/09/2011 13:00

should add we're doing the t-shirts instead of party bags, DD1 is having a cricket party, we've designed a team logo to go on the front and every child will have their name on the back. You could do this instead of wall decorations, make each child a t-shirt with a different bear on. I got t-shirts from matalan 3 for £4.50 but thats because they were the bigger size so for your party 3 for £3.50

sheets here

Ooooh I remember having a Care Bears party when I was a little girl (about 5) - I'm 26 now tho but it was still the loveliest party I can remember (it's only through talking about it years later that I remember the finer details however)

My mum did many of the things you've said with the wall decorations and table centre-piece.

I imagine back then things were more readily available but even so she used a duvet cover for the tablecloth which I was then allowed to have on my bed - I would recommend eBay for this today as I'm sure there are some of the older care bear's knocking around.

For the centrepiece she used my own teddies all sat in a circle with the backs to eachother. I think you can get ornaments now so how about getting one of those cheapy cupcake stands, the cardboard ones, and put beads and care bears on there?

I bet there are places online that allow you to download and print care bear pictures so you could use these as placemats and the children could colour them in afterwards (might be an idea to have some spares tho...)

For wall decorations my mum bought just put posters up everywhere but how about getting some wide florist ribbon and bows and creating swags to put up with co-ordinating balloons ?

Depends how far you want to go really?

Sounds like a lovely party that you want to make really special for your daughter :) xx

Oh this is JUST the kind of pickle I always land in!

OP....print them off....big as you can...make care bear bunting....just use cheap ribbon or string and put cut out care bears along it and string along the walls or over the table.

The choose three colours...pink, yellow and green for instance...have a plain table cloth but make cupcake toppers like these <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.birthdaydirect.com/images/72328-care-bears-picks.jpg&imgrefurl=www.birthdaydirect.com/care-bears-cupcake-picks-12-p-22064.html&usg=__NkZCUobRpeLUTbVX12NkQFNcMjw=&h=600&w=600&sz=149&hl=en&start=1&sig2=n8a9ktb4BIEkqRcr0hGdIg&zoom=1&tbnid=pYfdh1j3U-dyEM:&tbnh=135&tbnw=135&ei=Rl-ETuW7FdKx8QOD_5Ff&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dcare%2Bbear%2Bcupcake%2Btoppers%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1T4ACAW_enGB356GB357%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here and then have toning plain paper pates in pinks and yellow. you make cupcake toppers like that by printing off care bear images and sticking tooth picks to the back....you may have to double the image so they look good on both sides and then "sandwich the toothpick" in between the two paper layers

Balloons in the same colours and maybe if you feel really crafty, make a centrepiece out of a big cut out care bear...laminate it and put it on top of a wrapped box...so it looks like its jumpng out...a how box would do...fill the box with streamers and tissue.

MumblingRagDoll · 29/09/2011 13:10

A shoe box not a "how" box.!

Pinot · 29/09/2011 13:11

Am I in a parallel universe?

cottonreels · 29/09/2011 13:13

Think Im in one too Pinot. Confused

MmeLindor. · 29/09/2011 13:20

Do people really do this much for their children's parties?

Good for you if you do. My DC are lucky if they get a pack of balloons.

Pinot · 29/09/2011 13:23

Mme I can confirm I do not, nor does cottonreels I suspect. I do order a ver nice wine for drinking when the party os over though.

Pinot · 29/09/2011 13:23

os over? is over

I sound pissed

CMOTdibbler · 29/09/2011 13:29

TBH, I am totally bewildered by the amount of effort some people put into childrens parties. The farthest I get to a theme is standing in Sainsburys and letting ds choose some paper plates

katz · 29/09/2011 13:35

i do but i enjoy it, my DC enjoy it - no harm done. It's just a chance to have lots of fun.

I've done a science themed party complete with lab coats and goggles, a dora party which consisted of the party guests becoming Dora and her entourage going on a dora style adventure. An insect party with insect themed crafts and games.

MumblingRagDoll · 29/09/2011 13:48

I do...I love crafting though so a party is an excuse to really go to town. If you like this kind off thing it's not an effort at all.

Hardly a paralell universe...just different people enjoying different things.

bytheMoonlight · 29/09/2011 20:03

I love love love all these ideas .. who cares if we are in a parrell universe! It's a happy place to be!

Just had a quick glance when I got in from work so off to delve into the ideas with greater detail and work out what I'm capable of!

Really appreciate all the ideas (and any more you can think of!)

Oh and discovering Etsy has blown my mind - never knew about all the lovely home made goodies on their. That will completely change my Christmas and birthday parties Grin

My god, just re read and there are some fabulous ideas on here!

If I can work out how to do it on my computer I'm going to create my own Happy Birthday bunting with care bear images, care bear bunting with images and ribbon, the cake toppers, the duvet for a tablecloth, the centrepiece with the ornaments/posable figures, rainbow plates if I can get them, the three colour theme, colouring sheets and T shirts with bears on!!!

So excited!

Pudden · 30/09/2011 11:28

Leave the OP alone; she not doing anything awful or extreme- just entering into the spirit of it. Nowt wrong with that

kbird · 30/09/2011 11:34

Madness! As long as there is a Care Bear cake, all will be well. If no Care Bear cake, a SWAT team will rain into your garden from the hovering helicopters and shoot you on site for crimes against children.

Take heed.

bytheMoonlight · 30/09/2011 14:06

This is the cake a lovely lady is making for me

OP posts:
kbird · 30/09/2011 16:37

That cake is a good Care bear cake. SWAT team, stand down!

AchtungBaby · 30/09/2011 19:08

Wow, that's an amazing Care bear cake Smile.
