Internet has been a lifesaver for us! When dh was made redundant he took his hobby started a little web shop, used an ebay shop as well and is starting to make a profit.

Yes we get broke but without the web we'd be compeltely benefit reliant I suspect. Definitely not a disposable resource here- plus we live miles from anyone who knows my name pretty much and I would lose it rapidly being stuck in with a handul of disabled kids. And we are both studying to improve our chances long term so net essential for that, especially for me being unable to use the uni ones with the boys. Qualify next year so hoping to start my own business part online then.

having web access boosts your chances of making more money / changing jobs / improving chances manifold.

I can see where you were coming from OP but for me the internet helps me budget due to internet banking. I'd be lost without it and would no doubt incur charges.

BTW am I one of the ones you looked up?

We're almost forced to have the net these days. Sad If it wasn't for my son's homework I'd not bother. But then again i'm from the days of no computers.

Y A were B U - but we all are sometime huh.

YANBU OP.

Theres poor, and theres mumsnet poor. Its hard to take benefits sob-stories seriously when half of them are being written via iPhones.

SanctiMoanyArse · 26/09/2011 18:11

Personally I admire people managing iphones on benefits coz I bloody well cannot, even with dh working and we certainly have more than basic benefit income. Either they bought them via the provvy (er I think I will steer clear ta) or they are a damned site better at budgeting than me.
