I hear Coldplay and I just think, ugh, he's singing about a woman whose cook screwed up the pesto and whose child's Latin tutor is failing to teach piano simultaneously with teaching Latin so the kids are just falling right behind the other kids and the whole lot of them will go to hell in a handcart unless those mangoes ripen in time for the Fijian delegation dinner.

Well there is this band called Coldplay and I don't like them very much...

I don't mind Coldplay's music at all but they are sliding into Sting and Phil Collins territory as most derided musicians on the planet

I like Coldplay....there I've said it. It is one of the few bands that I can play in the car without hitting mute or explaining shit.

The video is quite clever in a sixth-formy, earnest kind of way; it's the whiny lyrics and music that spoils it all. These guys really should have taken lessons from the The Smiths in making misery sound good.

Thing is with Coldplay is that they are now seriously out of step with public feeling. In good times, it is fine to hear about a multi-millionaire moaning about how the Bang and Olufsen is really not that much better than the Phillips stereo he had back in his student house, but in bad times? Not so appealing.

Of all the punishments I can dish out to my DCs, "stop that I'll ban TV", "stop that or I'll beat you with a big stick" the one that works because they know I'll carry it out is, "if you don't stop that right now I'm going to stick you in a room and make you listen to Coldplay".

I do like Yellow by coldplay and som eof their other songs. They are only rich because their music is popular. Gwineth Paltrow gets on my nerves because I am jealous of her. Who wouldn't want to be thin AND rich?!
