Sarah says: Hi I was wondering if someone had some advice. My 5 year old has started lying. At first it was just silly things like not brushing his teeth, but now he's doing naughty things and clams up, even when he's been caught, blaming everyone but himself. He eventually admits it, but still does it. The other week, he even did a wee in the bin and today did a wee on the stairs. I pulled both of my kids up asking who did it, and both denied it, but after a while, he admitted it. I ask why he's doing these things and he says he doesn't know. Sometimes he'll laugh at it, other times, he'll cry. He's told odd lies at school, and the teacher just said keep an eye on it. I don't know what to do.
linda says: This is quite common, I've heard it many times but not had much personal experience. I would give him lots of praise when he confesses and tell him how proud you are that he admitted to it.... Sorry I can't help much x

Tracey says: Hi ann, where do you do the readings and how much do you charge.I have had readings before and its been well over a year since i had my last one.thanks tracey

Kate says: Ann, can you explain how you are psychic? I would love to believe, but think that there are some people who have no qualms in exploiting vulnerable people. If you can prove me wrong, then please except my apologies, but what do you mean by a reading with a meaning?
21st September, 2011
Ann says: Hi tracey I live in whitchurch area but will travel local areas. I charge £25 40-60 mins give me a call if you are interested. Thanks ann
21st September, 2011
Kate says: Really Tracey, that is a lot of money to pay out to a stranger claiming to have psychic powers. Please take on board that my questions have been ignored. £25 can get you a nice haircut, new dress, meal out. Please don't waste it on unsubstantiated crap!
21st September, 2011
Ann says: Hi kate readings with meaning simply means me connecting with your loved ones who have passed. I am a clarivoyant medium for more detailed info please give me a call. Thanks ann

Kate says: If you can do this then please contact the James Randy Foundation. There is a million dollar prize for anyone who can prove such talents. As I said before, I would love to believe, but if I had such a talent I wouldn't be charging that amount. I am all for netmums trying to earn a living, but please...

Ann says: Hi kate I appreciate everyone has their own beliefs & you are entitled to your opinion im sorry you feel the way you do but I take my work very seriously & have helped alot of people in my time. I Understand that there are fakes out there but I can assure you I am not one of them. If you ever change your mind give me a call. Thanks ann

Kate says: Ann, I hate to have a go at anyone. I do, however feel that vulnerable people can be sucked into this. If you have watched Derren Brown he shows clearly how people can do a 'cold reading' successfully. It isn't psychic powers. Ann, please explain how you do this.
21st September, 2011
Ann says: Kate i am happy to explain the best way I can so please give me a call too much to try & explain on here!!
21st September, 2011
Kate says: Ann, it would be really nice for you to explain where all can see. I'm sure that this would give potential customers more faith in you...

andrea says: Can i join the debate & just say if you believe & want a reading with ann give her a call dont judge someone without trying it out first I can defo vouch for her told me things noone else knows!! But make your own mind up about her.

Charlotte says: Kate, you are being harassing. Stop it. You've made your point. Besides, Derren Brown himself is a moron with no talent. He doesn't explain anything, he's full of secrecy himself.
I am a believer and maybe Ann does have a talent, who knows but your attitude is rude.
Ann - Please take no notice. I also believe that if you have the gift you don't charge for it. No offence! I hope you continue to help others.

Kate says: I am nearly 40 and have spent most of my life wanting to believe. I have been to many 'reputable' readers and what has been said could apply to anyone. I have often heard "You are at a cross-roads, there are changes going on,someone has hurt you, your not sure which direction to turn. Once, when the reader was clearly failing, she said "You are going on holiday..." It was July! But I wasn't. She clawed her way back with"someone you know is going on holiday". Please listen to Derren Brown. And Ann, if you would be prepared to give me a free reading which I believed (because I refuse to pay £25) I would happily come back on here and eat my words, with apologies left right and centre. I presume that my offer will not be accepted.
And no, I am not being rude, I am trying to help vulnerable people think twice before handing over money to someone who can talk to the dead. Don't you think the dead would have more interesting things to say than "Look in the bottom of the wardrobe... or the letter J is important? Please look after yourselves and ask why?

gemma says: Jesus! Chill out! Point made love! :)

Kate says: Thanks Gemma, that was really helpful ;)
Some things are worth having an opinion about... or shall we just let people get sucked in? You didn't really discuss.

gemma says: You're welcome :) my opinion is that I do believe it this stuff but would not get a reading because I'd rather not know. If you don't agree with it then don't get a reading, end of! No need for horrible remarks for someone who's offering people a service that they may want.

Julie says: I have to say I agree with Kate and think it's absolute nonsense..............however, if someone takes comfort from it then does it really matter??
Some people think religion is a load of clap trap yet some find strength and comfort in it - who's to say either is right and besides, it's irrelevant if it helps someone??
21st September, 2011
Kate says: I agree Julie, but for £25 per hour...?
21st September, 2011
Kate says: And Nuala, I wish you every luck in the world in finding a 'psychic' for your reputable business evening. I'm sure your clients will be thrilled with their advice.
It's great if it is for a bit of fun, but what about those who take it all on board? Is that right? What qualifications will your 'psychic' have. Would you employ a novice hairdresser? No, of course not. You have steadily built up a worthwhile business, and I commend you for that. You have achieved lots. I guess I am alone in sticking up for the vulnerable and needy... because, let's face it, not many happy, sorted people turn to psychics for advice. I was hoping for some valid other opinions but...
21st September, 2011
Julie says: LOL Kate. I kind of think if people want to waste/spend that then that's their business and not mine - I'm sure I spend money on things they would consider a waste. Funny how no one picked up on the post re. trampoline exercise the other day though - that was £25 per hour (I think) or £40 for a group.........why is a group more expensive when it didn't last any longer?? Also, the person running the sessions doesn't have overheads apart from travelling expenses! Again, good luck to them and if people want to pay it then great.............personally I wouldn't.
Also, lots of people smoke or drink when stressed, probably running up a bill of more than £25 - is that any better??
Yes, I agree it's a nonsense and can't believe people are sucked in, but who's to say I'm right??
21st September, 2011
Kate says: Julie, but they are buying what they know they are buying, not some made up . If I had bought a trampoline, and I couldn't bounce, I would also complain! Anyway, you seem quite rational, and my argument is not with you ;)x
And netmums moderators, do you not need to verify business claims?

Ann says: Hi again Kate I dont have a problem giving you a free reading as I would love to prove you wrong but dont think it would benefit either of us as you dont believe & I think you would still say it was a load of rubbish as you obviously have issues judging by youre responses. I have been doing this for many years without charging but as I have progressed it has meant me leaving my job & doing this full time & like eveyone else I have bills to pay. This is my last response to you as I dont feel that I have to explain myself to you. I hope you find peace in your life thanks again ann
