Paddling in a murky ol' gene pool there Ursual. Explains a lot though.

UrsulaWoleffay · 20/09/2011 22:43

I'm feeling some tension, do you wanna talk about it?

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2011 22:44

Oh FFS. Now I do.

Folks is for Bugs Bunny and annoying Sunday Night telly people. That's it.

EverythingsNotRosie · 20/09/2011 22:48

Well that's put me in my place. Still going to say it though! [Grin]

MrsWembley · 20/09/2011 22:53

I use 'folks', as in 'right folks, I'm off' or ' ok folks, whose with me?'...

And, btw, YANBU. Wink

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2011 22:53

Grin. Alright then, but don't blame me if people think you're Aled Jones.

YankNCock · 20/09/2011 22:55

I disagree. My mom is from Illinois, which isn't in the south, and she says 'folks'. But she says a lot of weird things. Grin

MrsWembley · 20/09/2011 22:57

Ales Jones?Confused

MrsWembley · 20/09/2011 22:58

Or even Aled... Blush

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2011 22:58

Was aimed at EverythingsnotRosie, Mrs Wembley.

MrsWembley · 20/09/2011 23:00

But she sounds like a teacher not a DJ/easy listening vendor. Really Confused now...

RedRubyBlue · 20/09/2011 23:01

Wasn't Pam Ayres a spy for the British government?

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2011 23:05

Up thread I said that saying 'folks' a lot made you sound like a Sunday Night telly person. Like Pam or Alan, or, indeed, Aled. So whilst EverythingsnotRosie was clearly using it in her role as a teacher, I was jokingly suggesting that it would make her sound like one of those people. Specifically Aled. I was not suggesting she sing The Snowman theme or dig carrots, that would be silly.

There's nothing really to 'get', it's just a joke.

rycooler · 20/09/2011 23:08

I don't think I've ever heard Aled say 'folks' - I could have missed it though.

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2011 23:10

You'll just have to trust me on that one then.Smile

MrsWembley · 20/09/2011 23:13

Ahhh, Sunday night... I know Aled as a Sunday morning person. I mean, not personally, just in the R2 sense... and not even like that... a bit too churchy for me, I tend to switch off for the chat, just listen to the music...

Sorry, what were we talking about?

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2011 23:15

Raises eyebrows at you knowing Aled on a Sunday morning. Fnar

I like his programme actually, he's very sweet. The bloody Steve Wright ruins it all with his inane gibbering. I don't mind the churchy bit on a Sunday.
I'll listen to Terry too, but NEVER Elaine Paige. She makes me itch.

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2011 23:15

THEN bloody Steve Wright.

Clearly time for bed as I can no longer type.

MrsWembley · 20/09/2011 23:19

Then switch to R4 if Steve is not your bag. BH is one of the best programmes on the radio, not that I get much of a chance to listen these days Biscuit...

Agree with you about Elaine Page... even though she uses 'folks'Wink

What was this thread about again?

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2011 23:21

I have forgotten. Something about disagreeing with a question.
I bet Elaine used 'folks', she's just the type Wink

UrsulaWoleffay · 20/09/2011 23:23

everyone knows that Aled Jones has NEVER used the word 'folks', you big twat!

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2011 23:24

I heard him say it the other week cos I shouted at the radio like a mad thing.
Touchy, much? Pam Shame getting you down?

rycooler · 20/09/2011 23:27

Aled is the type who would say 'guys' - to make him look less boring and more up to date, but not really pulling it off.

UrsulaWoleffay · 20/09/2011 23:27

See that Radio Four, thats your favourite that is

SuePurblybilt · 20/09/2011 23:29

YY to 'guys'. In a Cliff sort of way

Ursual, it actually is. Blush
