To let almost 6year old DS use my treadmill?

Before you flame me, I would only let him walk on it and he would be supervised by me the whole time, which would probably only be a few mins. I know children shouldn't really use adult gym equipment but I can't see any harm in doing this. I haven't allowed him yet by the way, just wanted some opinions first!

I let my kids on ours, supervised and walking with safety clip on. Upstairs one day I heard an almighty thump, my 7 yr old had plugged it in, switched it on, clipped safety clip to machine but no to himself, pressed a full speed pre programme and shot clean off the back, he then got caught under the machine and suffered friction burns on his arm, side and legs, which entailed a visit to the nurse daily for bandage changes.

Make it a no go zone like the cooker, iron, etc.

Shutupanddrive, I think the concern is that the treadmill can really magnify the gravity of a fall, whether you're running or walking. If I'd fallen over jogging on terra firma I'd never have been so black and blue. You can't steady yourself or anything if you start to fall, because there's no solid ground beneath your feet. If you hold the hand rail, your feet are taken away anyway. It throws you totally (in more senses than one).

I just don't see why you would even consider it

How bad would you feel if he injures himself for the pointless activity of "having a go" ?

Take him for a walk in the park

I can't see any harm in letting him have a go for a min, walking and supervised.
