..we are supposed to be going to Florida for DS dream holiday next Friday, and my DS and DH passports have been in the system since May being processed. We only sent them for renewal as they didn't have 6 months left after our planned return from Florida.

As we live out of the UK we have to go through an international line that as well as the price of the call charges us 72p per minute.

My husband was supposed to chase this up weeks ago as he sent them off, when he was a SAHD, he keeps saying he's phoning and yet never has an update. I called today and there is no record of their passports in the system! They haven't taken any payment for the passports and no one can tell me what the f*ck is going on.

I am close to tears in the office, I can't concentrate on anything, I feel totally sick, I've probably wasted £3000 and my DH is being so blase about it all I want to kick his teeth in. He just had to do this one thing and he's fucked it up.....

I can't get emergency documents from the Embassy as you still need a US Visa and that takes weeks to arrange according the US embassy, plus the only appointment I can get at the US embassy is on the day we are meant to be flying.

Someone say something comforting and not too judgey, I know AIBU etc but I just want to bloody cry and I really do, I've been looking forward to this holiday for so long.....

Where is your husband at the moment? I would be sending him to find this receipt for registered post IMMEDIATELY, otherwise you have lost another day without getting passports. I have to say it doesn't sound hopeful if they can't find them in the system and I would not be at all surprised if your husband had never sent them off in the first place.

Chandon · 19/09/2011 14:21

yes, get H to find the receipt NOW.

Then call around embassy and/or post office and find out who is responsible/could help you. Call this person every day until it is sorted.

sorry...it sounds mega stressful

rookiemater · 23/09/2011 11:20

I'm dying to know did you get this sorted OP?

vegetariandumpling · 23/09/2011 19:22

hope you get this sorted op

and if you cant, definately make DH tell DS.

Hi Guys,

Sorry I wanted to post an update but i had to go to Germany with work.

The passports arrived on Friday!!!!!!!!

Amazing how a barrage of calls from myself, my husband and a diplomate in Bern can cause them to suddenly locate them....they were scanned into the system last Tuesday and received by DHL on Friday. DH didn't leave the house until they arrived.

So I had completed the API's and the ESTA's and all that jazz, and it looks like we are ready for the off.

DH and I have forgiven each other, me for freaking out like the pre menstrual monster I can be. Him, for not acting with enough impetus once realising the gravity of the situation.

We have the proof of posting and tracking on the website, however they claimed they only reached the desk last Monday. The thing is, I am so relieved they are here and tired of it all that I can't be bothered to kick up a fuss. Not that I am sure it would really achieve anything anyhow.

Well that's it for another 5/10 years hopefully......!

Thanks for all your support guys, I nearly lost my sanity last week.

xx
