So shopping in a kids big chain store. Both for smakllies and young teens. In the background a very crude and sexually explicit song that made me so uncomfortable that I left without buying a thing even though I was there for a badly needed school coat. There were also children in the shop of various ages.

I wanted to complain to the staff but felt too self concious. Am being over sensitive. I mean the song was vile. I am not sure it would get national air play. The subject matter was sex, how much, how long and basically this fella wasn't going to stop till he had come......FFS! In a kids shop

This is the song Conjecture is referring to, it's a parody of all those "grim oop north" stories and hardly in the same league as the DV-glorifying shite put out by Rihanna and others. It came out a long time ago and was a comedy record.

TheJiminyConjecture · 15/09/2011 13:56

That's the one - what a pile of wank! I think it was just the fact it was blaring out in a toy shop that shocked me.

Columbia why do you think Rhianna is glorifying DV?

Columbia999 · 15/09/2011 13:57

Haven't you heard the one she did with Eminem? Regarding the Capstick one, I'm amazed it's being played anywhere after all these years!

RedOnion · 15/09/2011 14:02

Sorry to jump in - agree with Columbia999 - is the song she did with Eminem the one about how he can't stop beating her but its because he loves her and they are such strong personalities (something about a tornado??) that they can't help it. HATE that song. Angry

ladybutterfly1 · 15/09/2011 14:04

that sort of music is everywhere you could be watching eastenders on tv and one of them songs is playing in the back ground my daughter sings along to rhianna some of the songs are crude and she dosent no what there about but i have to say i have her album and i quite like her music you can shelter them from everything

Columbia999 · 15/09/2011 14:04

And the line she sings "It's ok because I like the way it hurts", the stupid woman. She should have known better, from her own experience.

RedOnion · 15/09/2011 14:07

Yes that's the one. It disgusts me that it gets air time.

TheJiminyConjecture · 15/09/2011 14:08

I love that song. Forgot that was her. Weird when you think about all the publicity that her attack got a few years back.

The song was being played in a truly shit toy shop that I'm shocked hasn't gone under (In Southampton if anyone is wondering) I'd never heard it before so with a relisten it may not be quite as bad.

MrsCampbellBlack · 15/09/2011 14:08

It is inappropriate.

Mind you was watching Deadly 60 on cbbc last week and the soundtrack was 'my sex is on fire' which struck me as a rather odd choice for a children's tv programme.

I must be getting old.

ladybutterfly1 · 15/09/2011 14:11

i agree columbia 999 that songs not right i think some people dont listen to the words they just watch the videos i agree she has been in a bad relationship herself i dont agree with i like the way it hurts

Feminine · 15/09/2011 14:20

I would complain regardless if you know/remember the song.

I have done it ...I been met with blank expressions though.

It is as if it all has to be 'in your face' with explicit lyrics these days, and I am only 40.

Sex is not new ...why on earth do 'artists' these days think it is? Confused

Why on earth should consumers have to listen to that drivel when out shopping for children's things? come to think of it why should we have to put up with it anywhere? YANBU

i have asked for music to be turned down/off in hairdressers. was a bit wimpy and said I was hard of hearing. which anyone is with a hair dryers and drum and bass truly is. I don't want to listen to it. If I chose to I will. I fully embrace anyone's right to listen to crap, but don't make me please.

Wait till "Here it is Merry Christmas" starts polluting the air in about 2 weeks. Fuck my old boots, might just stay home till January.

I always put the radio on with headphones on my phone when I'm in the hairdressers. It helps to drown out the rubbish music.
Oh and what Lolaflores said about the Christmas music. All these niggles will fade into the background once Noddy starts yelling in every shop you go in!
