'we need to get you a budget plan so you can come'

Basically my Mum side of the family is huge. She is 1 of 7 it it extends down from there!

Next Easter there is about 15 of the family planning to visit EuroDisney. (there's 50+ of us in total).

I am a LP, do not get maintenence but do work. My money is tight, have debts (family don't know as I'm private person), and do budget explicitly to afford a decent enough life. Will finish degree in 3 years and then 1 year training and debts gone in 4 years. So this is a temporary situation.

ED though is out of my price range especially with cost of living going up atm.

I really resent the suggestion from my Aunt that I'm bad with money and that with careful budgeting I can pull £800 out of my arse by January by budgeting. Angry

OK, Rant really but IANBU am I?

My mum is a bit like this. She assumes that because I whinge about the high cost of stuff, or how I was surprised a week in Haven could cost up to £1k, then we must have no money. We do, I save a little every week (generally emergency fund) but there are some things I don't want to spend my money on!

Oh God I had this from my MIL . . .

We were talking about holidays and I was saying that we could not afford to go at all as couldn't even afford the passports, let alone a bloody holiday. She said that I should get one passport a month like my SIL did to spread the cost (this is SIL who gets free childcare from said MIL who refuses to even look after my dcs in an emergency let alone so I can work and earn extra money) . . . anyway, so I said that I couldn't even afford one passport every 2 or 3 months and she told me "don't be so silly of course you can".

Er actually I know my own finances and you don't so f off!

Quite Adversecamber Grin

I am a bit of the black sheep in the fact I don't enjoy the whole family camping/ holidays (finances or not!). I am quite a private unsociable! person who like's their space. I am not forking out for something I wouldn't enjoy.

YANBU to be irritated that they are presuming that the reason you can't afford it is simply that you are not trying hard enough.

Can you not just say "sounds like my idea of hell actually"?
