AIBU to expect there to be some hairdrying facilities for school children in swimming pool after lessons?

My DD has waist length hair. She has just had her first lesson at school today at the local pool. I had given her some money for the hairdryers but she came home at 3.15 today with hair still very wet and told me that they were in the "school" changing rooms which don't have hairdryers or hand dryers in the toilet area either. The hat she was wearing does not keep her hair from being drenched. She had it plaited up ( as per school regs - tied up hair) There was only one female assistant ( both year teachers are male) and they all have to stay together so she can supervise.
Come mid winter I don't want DD with dripping hair all day.

What would you do?

An update.

Thank you to the suggestions for Turbans to soak up more water in her hair.
I got one and it is better than towelling dry. DD is untying her hair and using this then towelling some more and putting it back into a pony tail. Better than a dripping plait but still not ideal come mid winter when she will have to go out to play mid morning with still wet damp hair.

"I had a thing years ago that was a long strip with a hole in it and held in by wire that you put your pony tail in and pulled it out the the ends, wrapped it up, twisted the ends in and made a bun."

I had one of them. Loved it. Looked like a large version of the thing you blow bubbles with. All sorts of instant elaborate magic that could do to hair. Havent seen one in years.

Is it this? I had one. Very handy.

Towel dry. Just like we had to in the 70's. No harm done.

I second Claire's Accessories for up-do cheating devices.

I swim before work and am too lazy/late to dry my hair properly. I tend to 1. squeeze out water 2.use a hair turban while I get dressed so I don't have my hair dripping down my back 3. brush/comb hair through (despite always being told you shouldn't) 4. use my big towel to dry the length of my hair (just squeezing around a ponytail) 5. then put in an easy bun by just wrapping a pony tail around itself and then securing with a hair band. I find that the hair going to the bun is dry by lunchtime, and although the inside of the bun is still damp after work, it's not a problem.

Gosh when these girls get a bit older they will be wanting GHD straighteners at the pool as well as hairdryers and will never get back to school in time for lessons..
I agree with all those who said we all managed back in the day. At the age of 8 you should have a hairstyle that you are capable of beginning to manage independently. You probably need to experiment with different swimming hats as I have had some in the past that kept my hair bone dry.

If your DD hasn't already got one, a Tangleteaser brush would be good too!

A sprinkle of baby powder inside a silicone/latex swimming cap makes it much easier to put the cap on, pull it into position and tuck in stray bits of hair ... and if the powder shows on your hair afterwards, it's easily brushed out!

has anyone tried these as I was wondering if they would be easier.

Wellies and pyjamas - have something similar - But she can't quite manage it herself yet although I can get her hair in a bun in less than a minute using it. _ just need a replacement as its old and tired and still can't find one the same as the one I have.
I tried these but they are open at one end and so very fiddly and lasted bout 2 uses.
