...to want to tie this person up in a plastic bag and shove them in a bin?

Because that's what they did to the kitten my friend found in the bottom of her bin yesterday. Angry

They hadn't just dumped it, they actually pushed it right down to the bottom, and covered it with the rubbish - she would probably never have found it if her neighbour's dog hadn't gone nuts, barking and scrabbling at the bin.

Luckily she has been able to find it a good home with one of her family, but I hate to think what would have happened on bin day if the neighbour's dog hadn't been passing by.

Sick sick bastardy bastards.

And I fully agree with your suggested punishment

Even though Boy cat is currently trying to take a chunk out of my leg, he?s suddenly become very affectionate over the last few weeks

And Girl cat seems to be planning my demise by draping herself just out of sight on the stairs, so that I only see her just as I'm about to step so that it takes great effort not to go headlong down the stairs.

I keep telling them they're not in the willGrin

ShockSadAngry

im so glad the poor little thing is in a loving home now.

Smellslikecatpee · 12/09/2011 18:43

Ps Hedley, I'm with you.

OH regularly says I love the cats more, and then shoves me over till I have 2% of the bed because 'Oh look how cute BC is just all curled up in the middle of the bed like that, be mean to move him, he's sleeping' so me and him get 4% of bed space and cat gets 96%!!!!

But he hates cats Grin

booyhoo · 12/09/2011 18:44

that is truly horrific!!!

who are these people? why isit so hard for some people to 'get' the fact that when you hurt or kill an animal it causes real physical pain. it isnt 'just' an animal that doesn'tt realy feel pain. they feel it just like we do!! FGS i accidently stepped on my kitten's paw yesterday and i still feel so guilty about it!!

DorcasBouvier · 12/09/2011 18:46

Sick bastards. I hope they die Angry

TidyDancer · 12/09/2011 18:48

OMG. Thank goodness there is a happy ending to the story, but still! That is shocking and horrible. I'd love to think there aren't people that vile out there who would do that, but there are too many of them.

Update on Dustbin Kitty - photo here

She was obviously very scared when she was first found, and apparently spent most of the day at my friend's trying to hide in the middle of a double radiator, but towards evening she came out for a cuddle.

She's now gone to my friend's brother - they already have an older black cat very like Dustbin Kitty, who decided she was Mum as soon as she saw her. Older cat, however took one look, spat the feline equivalent of 'Sod that for a lark' and promptly disappeared...

They seem to have settled down together quite well now, though, and little kitty (I forgot to ask my friend what she's called now) is proving very affectionate and cuddly. She has a full check- over booked at the vet's tomorrow, so looks like a happy ending.

But the sad thing is that my friend called the police (who came and took away the bag of rubbish she'd been found in to see if there was anything in there that might help them trace the bastard who put her into the bin) and he said that there had been a spate of similar incidents recently in the area, with not only some other kittens but also a rabbit and a couple of guinea pigs being abandoned - despite the fact that there is a very good and well advertised animal rescue centre close by.

Oh she's beautiful! I'm so pleased she has a nice home! :)

Such a shame people do such evil things in the first place though. :(

missymarmite · 13/09/2011 18:43

Dusty the kitten is adorable! I am Shock and Angry. Why, why, why? Lucky kitten for being found.

I found my cat abandoned in the middle of a busy main road out of town when she was a kitten. I reported her to all the local vets but no one was looking for her, so we assumed she was abandoned. I love her, and don't understand how people can do this.

And I'm with the person who said "If it was a case of "it's me or the cat" the cat would win."

smugmumofboys · 13/09/2011 18:47

I'm so glad there's a happy ending. I can't abide animal cruelty.

One of my own two was a rescue with her late (run over Sad) sister. They were found in a cupboard in a house locally which was full of neglected, dying and already dead cats.

There's just no excuse.

3littlefrogs · 13/09/2011 18:49

You have to wonder about the future of that relationship.....I would find it hard to live with someone who made me give up a much loved pet. Sad

GrimmaTheNome · 13/09/2011 18:50

I opened this thread thinking, blimey what a horrible title....

but YANBU Angry

If they couldn't be arsed to take it to a rescue why be arsed to do this to the poor wee thing?

So glad your friend bothered to investigate the bin.

oldraver · 13/09/2011 18:55

My old cat disappeared for a few weeks and turned up out of the blue one day. I had someone at the door a few days later asking if I had their cat 'Gizmo'. She had been found in a plastic bag covered in her own poo, and it was a bit hard to re-assure them it hadn't been me.

We had used different vets so no connection had been made to the 'abandoned' cat and me taking Lucy for a check up

RustyBear · 13/09/2011 22:53

Friend has just put an update on FB. Vet's appointment was today, not tomorrow - kitty is a boy! Apparently he hid it well.... Grin
