I have a friend who is having her hen night tonight. She doesn't have loads of people to invite as she emigrated many years ago and lost touch with lots of her friends. (Now back)
One of our circle of 5 friends is not going to the hemn night because she "sees her boyfriend on a saturday night"
AIBU to hope that she might change her plans just for once.

It depends how often she gets to see him I suppose.

I'm a bit Sad for your friend though.

Have fun!

MorelliOrRanger · 10/09/2011 17:03

Its a bit disappointing so YANBU but I hope the other 4 of you have a lovely time. :)

Talker2010 · 10/09/2011 17:04

Unreasonable, yes

It is entirely the decision of the other girl

dolphin84 · 10/09/2011 17:05

She sees his at least twice in the week too. They even live in the same Town.

depend whether the hen thinks she is going and she has just decided to bail at the last minute. If so she is out of order.

aquashiv · 10/09/2011 17:09

MAybe she doesnt like her that much and would rather see her BF. I would worry about it and dont make a big a deal out of it just go and out and enjoy it for your friend.

aquashiv · 10/09/2011 17:09

wouldnt

Deesus · 10/09/2011 17:10

Does sound a bit off to me. I'd maybe give her a bit of a nudge in a 'this is her hen night, will only happen once' type of thing. If said friend still isn't going to go, well nvm. You'll just have to make sure the hen has a fab night! Grin

Anniegetyourgun · 10/09/2011 17:18

Her boyfriend might be some controlling wanker who'll make her life a total misery if she goes out with friends on "his" night. She may be wanting a shoulder to cry on a few months down the line. You just never know.

Well, either the boyfriend is controlling and she's scared, or she's not really that bothered about your mate.

Which do you think it might be?

Rowena8482 · 10/09/2011 18:08

Or the boyfriend is just the excuse and there's another reason why she can't/doesn't want to go out but she doesn't feel she can tell you all.

ImperialBlether · 10/09/2011 18:33

Or she doesn't want to let her boyfriend have a Saturday night out without her, in case he meets someone else. Some men manage to keep their girlfriends in a permanent state of fear.

monstermissy · 10/09/2011 18:39

depends on what your doing, lots of hen nights can be costly affairs and not everyone wants to use their spare cash on things that arent their own family. I went on one recently and it was in another city, so their was taxi fees to pay, tee shirts to pay towards etc drinks and food for the evening, not being able to leave when you would like to as you have to wait for the taxi. Making conversation with other people you dont really know well or have anything in common with, i would rather be in with the kids watching crap tv. :) but then im not a fan of weddings and hen parties. Not wanting to go the a hen party does not make her a crap friend. Not everyone places such value on it.
