Read it in the Guardian here:

Such presence of mind in extremis.
Bravo.

I watched a crime programme and it was about the case of a rapist who climbed through womens windows at night and raped them.
he was on the loose for years until one night he broke into one ladies home and raped her and forcing her to give him oral sex.
after he did it he made her get in the shower and left. the women was so quick thinking she held his seamen in her mouth and spat it into a container.
she called the police and they caught him using the seaman sample.

I saw her on the news about an hour ago. Brave lady!

I like to think I'd have the presence of mind to do the same, but it must be awful to have to be in a position where it's even necessary.

Another girl who was attacked by this man in his car spat in the car to leave evidence.

Massive applause to both girls for being so bloody clever during an awful experience. Hands up to them both ..... Very brave and superb thinking.

Wishing them all well .....

I didn;t see about the other girl spitting in his car. I wonder if with all the CSI type show on at the moment and young people growing up with an expectation that DNA ia always used etc they are more likely to think to do something like that? I know until this thread it would NEVER have occured to me.

heros

CurrySpice · 08/09/2011 19:16

No I'm sorry alice for jumping on you. Like I say, I am dog tired and this is a subject close to me.

I wish, when I was raped, that I had shown that girl's courage. It might have helped me come to terms with it sooner.

She made me really cheer and smile

SouthernFriedTofu · 08/09/2011 19:25

curry I can't imagine most people would ever think to do that which is why its such an extraordinary story. You shouldn't feel you should have done anythign more that what you did. Just getting through it is brave enough (in my opinion anyway)

BoastingByStealth · 08/09/2011 19:28

God, that sent goose pimples down my spine. Bravo, that girl! Thank GOD they caught him, he was pretty confident wasn't he?

aliceliddell · 09/09/2011 18:31

Smile @ curry, did you see in the Guardian that she spat in the car too? She said she'd seen lots of forensic science TV shows which is how she knew to do it. And they say TV isn't educational.

RedBlanket · 09/09/2011 18:40

Wow I would never have thought to do this. What quick thinking.
