to think the world would be a better place if we concentrated on our own lives instead of "people watching"

am f**ked up of every second thread casting judgements on complete strangers. they know nothing about them, get a snap shot of their lives and then make comments and judgements.

if we all looked after our own a bit better than looking at what someone else or the OH or kids are doing/wearing/eating etc the world would be a better place.

i think us women are our own worst enemies at times.

YABU I love people watching-fascinating!

fagbutt My parents taught me table manners but they also allowed me unfettered access to TV, including the evil that was ITV in the '70s.

My eating irons-mangling way comes directly from rebellion at an Oxo Philip-and-Katy ad promoting blind conformism and patriarchal oppression.

So it was to my parents' credit and laxity that I have a healthy disregard of social convention and tear at my food like a monkey. (does this make sense? We were on the knife-like-a-pen heated debate).

I might write a thesis on parental values vs emerging societal pressures one day but probably not.

Anyway, I can't be arsed to obsessively people-watch but I'd be a liar if I said I never did it. Grin

I'm a people watcher, great entertainment. Manys a time dh and I have whiled away the hours on (pre child) holidays, lazing in a beach taverna, glasses of chilled white wine from the barrel, watching people pass the time of day......sigh.....I need a holiday Grin

exoticfruits · 08/09/2011 19:23

I do it in cafes at home-especially sitting outside.

scuzy · 08/09/2011 19:23

guess am in the minority ... we all people watch me included. but i dont get over excited or cry when i witness a child eating a lolli pop and pray for her teeth. thats the kind of thing am reading alot of on here lately.

love "anal tendencies" ... must remember that one.

Yanbu, I agree. It really irritates me that people are so dull bored that they actually bother to write on here about complete strangers. You can't judge someone with justification unless you have walked in their shoes. I know it's natural but we are not animals we do have presence of thought!

AWimbaWay · 08/09/2011 19:29

Are you judging people for judging people?

scuzy · 08/09/2011 19:30

Grin i guess i am!!! oh the irony!

scuzy · 08/09/2011 19:33

i stand corrected!

but i will say with confidence i dont give it as much though as some other posters.
