To be upset that barely anyone has even commented that I am running a half marathon for charity!!

I am running a half marathon for charity in 3 weeks time and have mentioned this 3/4 times on my FB page with a link to my Just Giving Page.

Before I get a flaming, I know the world does not revolve around me and I am not at all bothered if people choose not to donate. I would just love it if some of my so called friends would at least acknowledge that I'm undertaking this mammoth challenge. I don't know if they think that if they comment they are somehow obliged to donate. It's not as though people don't talk to me, it's as though they talk to me about anything bar this.

I just feel really hurt Sad

I think people are a bit sponsored out TBH, it seems like very bloody month there is something. honestly, I am tired of it. so they are ignoring for this reason I suspect, all financial and nowt personal

Just say at the end 'wish me luck'. Im with everyone who's spoken about donor fatigue. If I want to donate to a charity, I donate to one of my choosing. I'll only sponsor someone else to be polite, and get a bit fed up with being asked.

Also agree with 2rebecca. I am also a runner and tbh running half marathons is very common now and not seen as the great achievement it used to be. IMO anyone can run a half marathon with little or no training if they are not interested in doing a decent time.

This is not to take anything away from you frazzle as it is brilliant that you are running a half marathon. Just don't expect a big song and dance about it from everyone else. I have run several half marathons and marathons and don't get a word of encouragement or congratulation from DH. He doesn't get running and I don't expect him to. I run for my own sense of achievement.

Good luck frazzle with the half marathon!

I'm sure it is just sponsoring fatigue - I have got 3 friends (out of 90, I'm not someone with thousands of "friends") on my facebook wall currently asking for money. It does get tiring and I also get a bit annoyed by some of the "here's the link, now there's no excuse not to sponsor me" comments!

It also just often takes me a while to get round to it - my purse isn't near the computer etc!

Can I also suggest (and you might well be the sort of person who does it anyway...) you thank the people who do sponsor you, preferably personally? 2/3 of the people I have sponsored in the last 6 months haven't bothered to thank me directly - I know that sounds really snidey and "me,me,me" but when I've bothered to do it, just a quick "thanks" might make me sponsor them again next time...

If it's your first one it's reasonable to expect some form of recognition! If it's HM number 52, people get bored....

BTW well done on doing your first one! Enjoy the feeling..
