...was on acid and should be shot?

(Not because he/she was on acid, just because it's so painfully dreadful)

cottonreels · 06/09/2011 19:34

I do like Derek Jacobis voice though.
HATE Zingzillas

cleanteeth · 06/09/2011 19:34

HATE baby jake though, its trippy as fuck! annd show me show me. I.cant.stand.it!!!

Meglet · 06/09/2011 19:35

I've seen it every day for 4 years. Off the top of my very tired head (PFB's first day at school today) that's about 1,300 viewings.

And I'm still excited when the Wattingers come on!

Tee2072 · 06/09/2011 19:37

I have spent days hours trying to figure out the familial relationships on Me Too.

And why does Granby Murray also look after a dog?

And why do the married people never touch each other?!?!?!

::and breathe::

mrsravelstein · 06/09/2011 19:37

i looked it up, "me too" it's called. hideous.

shakey1500 · 06/09/2011 19:46
Grin

My theory is that the makers of the programme took a bunch of artists out on a bender, bought them pint upon pint of cider and black, chucked a few E's in then circa 3am gave them some crayons, a sheet of paper and told them to draw the first thing that came into their head.

Though the makers would have us think it "ahem..took YEARS of research to develop these "characters".

And if UpsyFlashMyKnickersAtTheDropOfAHatDaisy can sing then I'm the next prime minister.

BuntyCollocks · 06/09/2011 19:53

YABU.

Ombliboo, tombliboo, knock on the door ...

Lyrical genius.

AmeliaSachs · 06/09/2011 19:53

YABU. My DS, 16months, absolutly loves Waybuloo and ITNG. I think they're quite sweet really. Blush

I hate Balamory (so does DS) but he likes the Tellytubbies and i cannot stand them.

tethersend · 06/09/2011 20:05

I love Balamory.

It's like the Wickerman for kids.

SkipToTheEnd · 06/09/2011 20:05

I don't like it but my son does. But I'm trying to wean him off it because it's caused some serious issues in our local shop.

DS cannot say Makka Pakka. Instead he says something that rhymes with wacky but that starts with the right letters (sorry, I cannot even type it!)

Our local shop is owned by a family of Asian descent. My DS is not softly spoken :(

I thought making sure Makka Pakka stayed at home might solve the issue but they stock the ITNG magazine :(

JumpJockey · 06/09/2011 20:12

Don't the Tombliboo children usually end up with the yummy food though? Eg the one where they tale their picnic in the pinky ponk and it all ends up mixed up on the tables, with mr and mrs pontipine getting the runny grobbles? Seems fair to me.

Fuzzled · 06/09/2011 20:14

DS just saw ITNG for the first time today.

Grabbed the remote and managed to flick onto one of the 900 channels on Sky. Hmm

Luckily we have disabled these in parental controls, but coincidence? Me thinks not! Grin

inmysparetime · 06/09/2011 20:16

Is is just me or are the HaaHoos seriously menacing and creepy? If I turned round in a sunny woodland and saw one of those things I would jump out of my skin! It's like those creepy balloons in the prisoner.
And why has makkapakka got such a bad wind problem?
My kids don't watch it as they're 9 and 7 but I work in a day nursery so get it all day there for the foreseeable future. I agree about baby Jake though, trippy!Grin

Nowtspecial · 06/09/2011 20:19

My daughter ( 4 ) used to scream if it was on, in sheer terror. Now she likes it, and used to take her David Cameron Iggle Piggle toy to bed, it sings that creepy song and everything. Shudder.

pigletmania · 06/09/2011 20:41

My dd 4.5 loves ITNG, she has dev delay, even she is starting to tire of it. I do like the music and Derek Jacobis calming voice. Yes Waybaloo is even worse than Teletubbies and ITNG put together. Its not fair though, that Mr&Mrs P get delicious food, whilst the children get runny grobbles, can't be right can it Hmm

tallulah · 06/09/2011 20:49

I love ITNG. Waybaloo tho is another matter. Why do they put Zingzillas on immediately after the Tweenies? It's the same programme essentially.

arightoldbag · 06/09/2011 21:04

bwahhhhhaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaa

wickerman for kids....

love In the Night Garden, HATE bloody Waybaloos and mad ZingZillas

favourite is Auntie Mabel and her spotty plane. 'specially when she tells you all about poo

ThePathanKhansWoman · 06/09/2011 21:05

Grin tethers Balamory The Wicker Man for children.

I always thought there was something sinister about that place!.

Panzee · 06/09/2011 21:08

Fuzzled I'm sure your son was just searching for a regional news programme. :o

Kalypso · 06/09/2011 21:14

The perspective thing used to absolutely infuriate me. Now I am a changed woman due to a poster on Mumsnet, who on a previous ITNG thread offered her explanation of the constantly changing perspective.

This MNetter (I'm so sorry, but can't remember who it was) explained that the Night Garden is a sort of dreamlike, magical world that you go to when asleep. Therefore the rules of normal life (e.g. perspective) simply don't apply, just as they often don't in dreams.

Now whenever the shitty perspective issue rears its ugly head in an episode, I merely chant to myself, "It's okay, it's okay, it's dream world, a dream world."

RedOnion · 06/09/2011 21:17

There is hope people. It is called CBBC and it will come soon, hang in there, keep the faith and soon you to will be ogling watching handsome chaps dressed as vikings in horrible histories Grin

Sidge · 06/09/2011 21:18

Oh I love ITNG. The music is ace and Makka Pakka has OCD. Upsy Daisy is a strumpet and Iggle Piggle is hallucinating in his little boat and isn't in the garden at all (have you seen Shutter Island?).

My girls have grown out of ITNG now and watch Nick Jr.

We now have hours of watching Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom (which is hilarious) and Blue's Clues (Kevin's cord trousers are entertainment of their own).

mankymink · 06/09/2011 21:21

When Upsy Daisy yells into that bloody megaphone I would quite like to slap her and not stop.

GeekLove · 06/09/2011 21:24

nowtspecial
it's true igglepiggle DOES look like David Cameron

hester · 06/09/2011 21:26

I like the dreaminess, the funny birds, Makka Pakka and the spooky Haa-Hoos. Really could live without Upsy Daisy (I've had bosses like her) and Iggle Piggle (had boyfriends like him).

But it's Waybuloo that really gets my goat. Who the hell likes it? Ghastly hippy rubbish; almost unwatchable.

And don't get me started on the Tweenies...
