to get highly annoyed with BBC iplayer?

I find it chunky and cumbersome to negotiate and a pain in the arse when the stops and starts.

Nooooo!! BBCiplayer is brilliant. It's good quality. You can get subtitles and it doesn't stop every 2 seconds. Also programmes are uploaded literally within minutes

ITV player is the WORST. I even complained to them once because I had just missed Harry Hill and DD was asleep, so I wanted to relax in bed and watch it. THEY DIDN't UPLOAD IT. They STILL hadn't uploaded it the next day. It was so frustrating. I emailed them with a hate filled complaint saying how BBC iplayer was more reliable. They didn't reply until TWO weeks later!! ITV player always stops half way through for no reason, then when I resume, I have to sit through 10 ads again. Really hate it!

Omg, I just read that post and I sound like some big fat couch potato...I only watch Eastenders and occasional stuff on ITV player....

I am officially a couch potato this week so I really neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed to get BBC iplayer sorted.

I hate the way that iplayer doesn't buffer the way that other videos do e.g. youtube. So if our internet is running slow then we can't pause it for a bit and let it buffer, we just have to watch it stop/start or try again later. Also if you do pause it for more than a couple of minutes (to answer door or whatever) then you have to wait a while for it to wake up and find its connection of whatever again. Heaven forbid you try to skip forwards or back

Don't get me wrong, in a lot of ways it's fantastic but why won't it buffer enough to make viewing easy? Other sites manage it well enough.

Can you not download it to watch later? I only use it on my laptop, so don't know...

YABU. It's the greatest invention since the pill, contact lenses and the automatic gearbox (I'm all about convenience). Even better now it streams live TV. Generally, it only stops and starts if your wifi is weak. What do you find cumbersome about the interface, it's just a simple chronologic schedule.

Now itvplayer on the other hand give me strength fortunately only required for the occasional alfresco Xf catch-up.

Test your download/streaming speeds with an online speedchecker, OP, you might need to fiddle with your settings.

I had BT vision and got rid after two months, it's basically freeview with some paying shite.

Get a PS3 you can watch iPlayer on that.

Iplayer works great for me, if dp is hogging the line I click the lower bandwith option near the bottom and that usually sorts the start stopping.

Normally I'm pro, but it's decided it doesn't want to show me University Challenge this evening
