I'm pissed off when DH calls

to look at the children when they are being cute and/ or entertaining.

I've seen it all before.

All day long they do this stuff. By 6.30 when he gets in to put them in the bath I just want to tidy up and get them into bed as soon as humanely possible.

I don't want to look at the baby with a bubble beard. I want to look at the baby asleep.

I agree with the BloodyMuggle above (that's not Jedward Muggle is it ?).

It's nice that he does it but I can see how being called to look at not very much again and again would get on one's tits Smile

Sad zukiekat

mariebl · 05/09/2011 21:36

I have to say I have a bit of sympathy for him, he's hardly been sitting in the pub all day, he's been working and when he gets home he wants to share a bit of time with you and the kids.

Nagoo · 05/09/2011 22:16

I won't be leaving the bastard Grin

Just because there are complete wankers out there does not make this any less bloody annoying... what does he think she does all day, sit there with her eyes closed?? Once in a while - fine, all the bloody time.... GGRRR

PinsAndNoodles · 05/09/2011 22:31

It is a bit crap to be the parent who never gets to be the first one to see a new 'development' because you're not the main carer, so it might be nice to humour him occasionally.

AnyFucker · 05/09/2011 22:49

I am sure nagoo does humour him, to a point

let's not tiptoe around his male ego too much though, eh Grin

YAtotallyNBU. DP does this too, though not as much since I told him I didn't want to see DS spitting his dinner out after pureeing it in his mouth for the 16th meal of the 6th day in a row. FIL (MIL is less amazed by DS as she too was SAHM and has seen it all before) is particularly guilty - he came round to watch DP supervise bathtime recently and felt the need to give me a minute-by-minute account of it when I got home, despite the fact that I know full well that DS splashes a lot, drinks from the tap/surface of the water and runs to and from the hairdryer giggling like a loon, as I have done bathtime 6 days out of 7 for the past 14 months... It is nice that DS gives them so much pleasure and it must be funny to see it for the first time - I actually think FIL likes to tell me in case it is in fact the first time. Though he is the king of the repeated story, so maybe not. At least he takes huge pleasure in DS, unlike my own dad.

Aaaah that feels better, seems so so churlish to get bothered by it, but nice to get it off my chest - thanks, OP!

pins I might pretend she can't walk Wink

oooops.... im like your dh, i just want him to see things he misses when hes at work :(

SarahBumBarer · 06/09/2011 09:40

Ha ha totally agree OP. My DH is also entirely incapable of doing a task 100% on his own. So when I bath DS, I bath DS. When he bathes DS, I have to get DS naked for him (because he is busy running the bath Hmm and then make sure there is a nappy, liner and wrap set out on the changing mat for when he gets DS out the bath. I also take the towel into the bathroom since DH never remembers. And in between I tidy up the living room (in an attempt to make it look fit for adults having a relaxing evening rather than like a playschool) and run upstairs everytime DH shouts at me to come and look at the latest cute thing DS has done.

Nagoo · 06/09/2011 09:54

Sarah he can do the job, he doesn't want me there to assist, he wants me to observe the glory that is our offspring.

I am mean, but I still think I'm not unreasonable :)

Sarah - yes, with you on that one. Why is it that me washing DD's hair involves me running the bath, washing her hair, getting her out, drying her and then her hair, getting her nappy on etc etc, while he watches TV and then pops upstairs to say goodnight and give her a bottle while I fix dinner. But if he baths her, then it is my job to locate the shampoo (in that mysterious place where it is always kept - on the end of the bath), get the hairdryer ready (check that it still plugged in to the socket it is always plugged into), get the towel out, dry her hair (he doesn't like doing that because she wriggles. No, really? A toddler who wriggles. Wow.), get the bottle ready (because his job is bathing, tonight), give it to her, and still manage to get dinner started and the living room clear.
I point this out, he manages to do a bit of tidying for a few days, and then he manages to not notice the things that need doing, and we have to have the conversation all over again...!

SarahBumBarer · 06/09/2011 15:29

Oh I agree Nagoo - you are not. I was meaning that my DH has additional annoying qualities but he still does the "come and look at the cute thing" too and it makes me want to push him in the bath particularly because half of the time by the time I get to the top of the stairs it's "oh, he's stopped now" Arrrrggh!

Exactly BabyBTS.

pozzled · 06/09/2011 15:40

OP, I know exactly what you mean! My DH is exactly the same, right down to the bubble beard. He nearly always does the bath while I am tidying up or sorting dinner and the DDs frequently do something so cute that I have to come and see it. Luckily our kitchen is very close to our bathroom. And it is lovely that he gets so excited about seeing them develop, I know he is a bit jealous that I get to spend a lot more time with them while he's at work.
