re jeans try gap, various styles boot cut/skinny/straight/boyfriend etc. ad they do them by waist and leg length rather than size 10/12 etc. most other high stress jeans too short for me as I need 34 inch leg and 26 waist.

usualsuspect · 05/09/2011 13:36

I like leggings ,if you like them wear them

who cares what other people think

Lycra is a privilege, not a right!

Keep looking for the perfect jeans, get a belt, anything but leggings!

I wear leggings, they are more comfortable than jeans, im 5 8 and weigh about 8 1/2 stone, although they are just like tights and anyone can wear them regardless of height/weight.

You have to cover the bum and the camel toe is not a good look, so long something over the top!

Leggings as an alternative to tights is fine

Leggings as an alternative to trousers is vomit worthy

I find they're a good compromise between the short dresses I want to wear and the reality that is my (size 14) figure.

fatlazymummy · 05/09/2011 18:57

I agree with usualsuspect. If you like leggings then wear them, don't worry about anyone else's opinions. I do agree you should wear a long top with them though.

thefirstMrsDeVere · 05/09/2011 18:57

I wear leggings on a daily basis in the winter. I look wonderful.

I would NEVER wear them without a dress or tunic. The sight of anyone's arse in leggings is distressing.

I work with kids but cant wear jeans to work. Leggings are a fine alternative with a dress. I can get on the floor without flashing my knickers

(I was joking about the wonderful bit btw)

i wear leggings, and i did the first time round as well!

bum covering is not enough, the hem of whatever you wear MUST be nearer to your knees than your arse, otherwise it is simply not long enough

Nowtspecial · 05/09/2011 19:28

My mum is forever telling me off sweetly about my toddlers leggings. Unless she looks like Max Wall I think they are just fine. Anyone over the age of 5 who can't bounce tennis balls off their buttocks should accompany said garment with a long top.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 05/09/2011 19:34

I love my leggings, but would never, NEVER wear them if my top or dress wasnt adequately covering my bum! I have nice cosy ones to doss around the house in (which I'm currently wearing) and some better quality, but not as saggy loose to wear out.

I have dozens of pairs of jeans, none of which fit me perfectly. I'm an awkward shape Angry

HairyGrotter · 05/09/2011 19:39

Leggings wearer here too. Always wear with a long top/tunic/dress/jumper etc. I'm currently losing weight so they are perfect in that I don't have to keep renewing my wardrobe with jeans and such like.

Also, I have narrow hips, jeans give me saddlebags that I don't naturally have, can never find a decent pair.

I'm a bit rocky and only wear black, stick me leggings on with my black biker boots and I'm happy

purplepidjin · 05/09/2011 20:10

"the hem of whatever you wear MUST be nearer to your knees than your arse"

^^This

Do the same bending over test with your leggings/dress combo that you would with jeans - if your arse is visible, don't wear it Grin

CheerfulYank · 05/09/2011 20:23

Yes to leggings as long as no visible arse . I think they look best when mostly covered, i.e. a long top and boots.

create · 05/09/2011 20:28

I think leggings are OK with the kind of top that could be a dress, only I'm too chicken to go quite that short. Anything else then no.

HoHoLaughingMonster · 05/09/2011 20:30

Agree with leggings as alternative to tights.
I wear leggings with short dresses in summer. I can no longer short dresses with bare legs due to cellulite legs not being as toned as they once were. Leggings are much cooler than tights and you can wear sandals and flip flop type shoes with them.

In winter I revert to woolly tights.

WibblyBibble · 05/09/2011 20:32

Yes, I wear leggings sometimes (I'm the same height as you and mostly a size 10, though I would not describe myself as 'slim' by any stretch of the imagination!). I don't give a fuck if other people don't like it- they can learn to have sensible boundaries about what is not their fucking business.
