to think George Clooney is just a bad actor

Seriously, I have never seen him in anything where he is not playing George Clooney. He is ALWAYS the same.

and he RUINED Batman after Michael Keaton and Val Kilmer did so well with it.

Give me one film where he actually acts and doesn't ONCE do that 'rueful look with headtilt' and I might change my mind.

OP posts:
Helltotheno · 04/09/2011 19:49

the likelihood of him hooking up with you was quite small even if he was straight tbh

Grin Not my type... not to mention that one isn't his unless one is a long-haired brunette!

He's not the worst I guess. A lot of it is he just didn't suit some of the parts he did. I really liked him actually in 'Brother where art thou', as someone said above.

FemaleYouNicked · 04/09/2011 19:50

He reminds me of Cary Grant - plays for both teams perhaps?

Helltotheno · 04/09/2011 19:51

Nancy66 would that be one LS then? I really thought they were lovely together and hoped they'd stick it out...

GreenEyesandNiceHam · 04/09/2011 19:54

Yes, yes he is.

he's dreamy isn't he

Nancy66 · 04/09/2011 19:55

Hellto - no a make-up artist on one of the Ocean's Films

southeastastra · 04/09/2011 20:37

lordy is it only me who has suggested a great film for his acting and directing ability?? you sex mad loonies

Moanna · 04/09/2011 20:38

Wood..

Helltotheno · 04/09/2011 20:58

southeastastra you're right, we're a damn shallow lot on here. OK he gets my vote as an actor for Syriana, Three Kings and Brother Where Art Thou.
Imo he didn't do a bad job of directing Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, enough to make me want to check out Good Night and Good Luck, which I haven't yet.
Acting-wise, he just phones it in on certain movies, eg Michael Clayton, Oceans movies ('cept the first maybe), and he's just miscast in certain others.
So in summary, he's a fine piece not bad at all and I personally just wanna know if he's snipped look forward to seeing more of his work.

Over and out.

PamBeesly · 04/09/2011 21:06

but he is so good looking, swoon.

FemaleYouNicked · 06/09/2011 12:27

He would be great to have at a dinner party as he's dreamy and charming but i just don't find him sexy. Not rough enough around the edges. *suddenly all swoony about Liam Neeson being all rugged and manly

MissPenteuth · 06/09/2011 12:30

His acting is a bit one-note, but he's very charming. A modern-day Cary Grant. I love him in One Fine Day.

GeorgeClooneysWife · 07/09/2011 01:38

How dare you Shock Wink

Animation · 07/09/2011 04:56

OMG - great OP.

Yes, I've always thought he's a REALLY bad actor. His head is bobbing around all the time and he can't seem to maintain eye contact for more than a second, - or when he does it's the twinkly eyed - please adore me look!

mrjellykeepskidsquiet · 07/09/2011 13:31

YANBU....I don't rate him at all. In the looks department not much really either, don't get him at all

kitya · 07/09/2011 13:45

I dont know why but, Im secretly pleased to hear about him shagging the makeup artist. Now, we all want to know what he was like??? Wink I am convinced that he's at the very least bi. I do think that if he was completely gay he would come out with it as he seems pretty genuine although, the charade has gone on a bit too long now hasnt it? It would look very odd if he suddenly came out of the closet. Kevin Spacey is another one. Although, its none of our business really!!

I dont mind him as an actor. I loved Up in the Air, thought he was fantastic
in it.

I would like to be his friend. Wink

CogitoErgoSometimes · 07/09/2011 14:02

He plays the same type of character because that's what the director hires him for. John Wayne was only ever John Wayne, regardless of which outfit he happened to be wearing. Tony Curtis, Cary Grant. Some people aren't so much 'actors' as 'stars'.

Threaders · 07/09/2011 14:03

He is very good and very funny in "Burn After Reading"

SansaLannister · 07/09/2011 14:05

I thought that one where he flies a lot was funny. So many twat men out there just like him, his face was a picture when she told him he was just her bit on the side. Haahaa.

I don't really rate him, tbh. Or Brad Pitt.

kitya · 07/09/2011 16:05

I dont get Brad at all.

susiedaisy · 07/09/2011 16:07

Burn after reading was fab brad Pitt doing the phone call to try to blackmail the owner of the ' shit' was excellentGrin

susiedaisy · 07/09/2011 16:10

Is he gay then George that is? I never knew that, not a big fan of him tbh, I am looking forward to brad's new zombie filmGrin

ThePerfectShitStorm · 07/09/2011 16:23

I once sat very close to him. And stared a lot. He is, indeed, lovely in the flesh. And a great and versatile actor/director with a conscience. Syriana, Good Night and Good Luck, Solaris, Oh Brother et al....He apparently does all the Oceans 11 type crap for the money to fund his serious projects. I believe he lobbied the producers of ER to include all the Sudan stories in the later series (long after he's left) to raise the consciousness of US audiences.

WhoseGotMyEyebrows · 07/09/2011 16:42

OP I don't think you could have seen O Brother, Where Art Thou? then.

kitya · 07/09/2011 20:05

Id like to see it. I dont know why I havent. Is it funny?

WhoseGotMyEyebrows · 07/09/2011 22:13

It is so funny! It's brilliant!
