Does anyone else dread the house phone ringing?

I have quite a bit of phobia of it. When it rings, it stops me right in my tracks. I think it's because I have a large demanding family (they're are a great bunch) but always needing favours or they want to come round. I need to learn to say NO more often. I think I have always hated the phone.

I rarely answer it and sometimes even switch of mobile phone off.

Answer machine. Volume turned down. Job done.

no and if you do you REALLY need to see someone

We have the landline for business calls. It has an answer phone and it rarely gets picked up when it rings. Anyone who knows us, knows to ring or text our mobile phones.

If I pick up the landline, 9/10 times it's a cold caller even though we are on the TPS, so we usually let it go to answer phone. If it's that important, they can leave a message.

The only people who ever call us (apart from those infuriating messages) are my mum and DS2. Both of them do the calling the house then my mobile then DH's mobile so you think it's important, but it never is. The phone is starting to feel like a huge intrusion. I have explained to DS2 (he's 21 but has ADHD) that I carry a mobile for my convenience in case I get stuck somewhere, not so that he can hassle me 24 hours a day. If I am not answering the house phone chances are I'm driving so no matter how many times he rings I will not answer

Kayano - Book the lessons, and take a credit card number. Then when the instructor does not turn up and they ring again deny all knowledge. And they'll really be shitting themselves.

Am I an evil bastard, or am I an evil bastard? :o

I have caller id and an answer phone Grin

cpbp · 28/08/2011 20:13

I hate the landline! A particularly boring person with too much time on their hands drove me insane with endless whitter. Bad enough having to listen to them when I see em! Sooo boring- you know one of those people who talk all the time.

I have learned not to get "trapped" on the phone. ALWAYS screen my calls as I work long hours and sods law, phone goes when we are eating or I am flat out busy.

Nagoo · 28/08/2011 20:21

I do, because it's always a fucking withheld number that is a fax machine. Bastards.

I have to have a landline for my broadband.

When my house phone rings its some international caller speaking really bad english trying to sell me shit, I generally tell them to fuck off.

PhilipJFry · 28/08/2011 20:30

Don't be silly!

...It's the post you have to watch out for :o

Andrewofgg · 28/08/2011 20:31

FabbyChic agree and - as I have said before and I mean it - if they don't fuck off blow a referee's whistle down the mouthpiece.
