After a lot of struggling, Im approaching my pre-baby weight again but to my horror finding that I still have an enormous tummy. Is it all over for me now body wise and should I find happiness elsewhere? What are your experiences?

I had my first 4 before 35 and went exactly back to normal, wore bikinis etc.I had dd 6 months ago at 43 and boy is my tummy still big,and my arse come to think of it,the shred was working,am starting it again Monday.

I think it was having such abig bump, being older and spd which made me pretty motionless that caused it really.

My abs are still seperated and DS is 20 weeks. My belly has totally gone in at the bottom near the pubic bone but bulges further up. I heard that a lot of exercises make tummy bulges worse if you don't do them properly or if your abs are split still. What to do? get a good corset

Thanks all. I just googled the shred workout and got some info on it but not much. I just wanted to ask you all if my current workout schedule mimics the Shred in principle or whether i need to up it (Thank god for internet anonymity)

  • Jump rope: 1000 times (stop about 10 times for a break)
  • Aerobic dance to 1 song
  • Kegels
  • 30 stomach crunches and cross over stomach crunches
  • 10 pull up legs and hold (dont know what that is called)
  • Stretches

This takes about 20 mins and I do it about 4 days a week. Is this adequate to get me back in shape? This is what i used to do pre-baby btw.

A good thing about the Shred is that a lot of the exercisies incorporate more than one muscle group at once (for example, lunges while lifting weights, to work legs and arms at the same time) so you're burning more calories than if you were woking just one muscle group at a time. It maximises the result without extending workout time.

MorelliOrRanger · 03/09/2011 09:03

Can't see why that wouldn't work for you but as Miss says Jillian incorporates muscle groups together so you're working more calories.

Your workout seems alot harder than the Shred if I'm honest. :)

She splits the workout into 3 sections, Strength, Cardio and Abs and does it as 3 mins, 2 mins and 1 mins and you do it 3 times in 20 mins. It's brilliant. You do it for 10 days then move to the next level of which there are 3.

A friend of mine had this fat freezing thing done on her tummy and hips, painless but initially unpleasant. It takes up to 3 months to work but boy has it made a difference! They say 20-30 percent difference. Fat will go back if you eat poorly & don't exercise - may consider but not sure when safe post baby? Cheaper than lipo, no downtime and apparently safe as fat freezes at a different temperature to other tissue?
