We have guests to stay quite frequently sometimes when the kids are here and sometimes when they're at their dads and it is pretty well known one of them has a double bed (a cast off that was too good/new to throw out following a move not purposefully bought for them!). Now we've got people staying this weekend (we've not got my DC's) who are running incredibly late and we've sorted the spare room out for them, i've said to them when they get in the room will be ready for them and was met with:

"oh, we were hoping we'd be staying in DC's bedroom as it always looks so much more comfortable"

Now the spare has a double in it and the sofa bed is also a double so they're it's not like they're being hard done by by being put in the spare room it's just it's not as homely as DC's room (for obvious reasons, it's not lived in!) but it's clean, nicely decorated and is what it is, a guest room.

AIBU to not want my childs personal space invaded in such a manner, to think their bed is their bed and that my house guests have got a bloody cheek to ask? I'm just wanting to go to bed now i've been at work since 7am and i'm knackered so well aware this could be clouding my judgement :(

YANBU - and why would anyone have comfy guest beds, it only encourages people to stay more than 1 night...

YANBU. I agree that stripping the bed in DC's room should make it clear to them and remove negotiating room.

Tease them that they really want to play with the [insert a couple of their toy names here] and say that if they really must you'll stick a cuddly bear/Xman/hello kitty doll or whatever in their room for them to borrow and turn it into a big joke.

But definitely wouldn't let them sleep in your dcs room!
