to wonder how you would have handled this queue jumper?

Was queueing for a ride with the dc's at Chessington. Queues were particularly bad (park was at full capacity) and we queued for about 50 mins for one ride the dcs were desperate to go. As we got to the front of the queue a woman and her child walked all the way up the queue and barged to the front, bold as brass. Could feel my blood boiling but thought to myself, say nothing, don't get worked up, it's not worth it etc etc.

Could hear others in the queue mumbling about how unfair it was this woman had barged in, a few parents were explaining to their kids (who asked why the woman had been able to walk straight to the front rather than queue) how it wasn't acceptable to queue jump etc.

Anyway, a few minutes later another woman and 4 children climb over the barrier to stand with the woman and her child who queue jumped. They were laughing about how easy it was to get to the front of the queue and smirking to themselves.

Afraid to say I couldn't hold back. Turned to the women and said I'd been waiting for 50 mins to get on, how it wasn't acceptable to queue jump etc. Man next to me joined in and told the member of staff what had happened. The women were laughing and generally were very proud of themselves. I siad they were setting a poor example for their children. They told me if I didn't like it I should go somewhere else! Staff member said as she hadn't seen the woman and her children push in she couldn't do anything. They went straight on the ride, as there were so many of them it meant I had to wait a further 10 mins before I and the dcs could get on the ride!

AIBU to wonder what you would have done in that situation?

They have signs up at Busch Gardens saying queue jumpers will be removed from the park immediately. Very little queue jumping there so it must work :-)

fretfree - that ski lift story is BRILLIANT! Made my morning!

I can't stand QJs. Can't stand them and can't keep quiet either. DH starts trying to distract me in airport queues when people jump because he knows how it's going to end: an argument.

Worst of my worst was at an airport at about 4am, in a country where the police aren't exactly 'honorable' (think torture for no reason, other than to teach you a lesson...). I let rip at a family who calmly, but purposefully walked past a long, slow moving queue at passport control that was 'feeding' two passport control desks. I had heard people murmur as they passed, so thought someone might back me up. DH was muttering something at me and I was just more Angry that he wasn't backing me up, so carried on regardless. One of the women in the family was responding to me saying that it wasn't her fault if we were all queuing for one of the desks when there was another with no queue! I righteously pointed out that every queue was the same: feeder. As I was talking, I noticed that one of the men with them, went into the passport controller's booth. It was only then I realised why nobody was joining me and why DH was telling me to be quiet: the father of this family was secret police (they're not so "secret" if you know that part of the world) and was clearly a relatively high rank. Since then I double check who I'm talking to first, if they're not secret police, I'm not quiet!!

DH doesn't understand why I get so upset about QJs. I can't understand why he can't understand!! Confused

He also doesn't like travelling through airports with me Wink.

You did well! On this occasion you were let down by the staff, but you did what you could. I hate myself when I don't stand up to queue jumpers.

You did the right thing as is frustrating but don't be too hard on the staff! They probably don't get paid much and why risk a smack in the mouth? I've worked in a service industry and the public can be very threatening!

I felt guilty in the summer when I was at Disneyland Paris.

Six teenagers (4 boys/2 girls) queue jumped in front of the racing car line, my dh had words with them, and they got out of the queue.

They then got further ahead of us, by pushing in again.

I got the attention of the member of staff he ejected 4 of them, as the other 2 denied being with them, and I was too far from them to be able to comment and it was all going on in French.

I thought they had just been chucked off the ride. The attendenant came back to tell me they had been ejected from the park and were banned for the rest of the day.

Excellent service - did feel guilty that they had been evicted.
