AIBU to use incense even though DH hates it?

I hate how my house smells stale and like wet dog despite our dog being clean and the windows being open constantly. DH can't stand artificial air fresheners or even Febreeze so I bought vanilla incense.

AIBU to light them in the main areas of the house even though DH's cats bum face annoys me? I love the smell.

YABU - you both share the living space. Find something natural to make the place smell good.

That's the thing, I clean well and nobody can smell 'the smell' but me. It doesn't smell doggy, more like stale air but we open the back door and windows daily, sweep and hoover daily and wash bedding etc weekly. I think it's just me. When I walk in I'd like a nice smell but I can't figure out how to do it.

DH says IABU for asking because he doesn't mind and actually likes scented candles. :(

Is it just the aerosol type things he doesn´t like then?

I don´t use them as they make me wheezy!

Fragrance sticks?

Reed diffusers are expensive but can smell lovely. They diffuse essential oils.

I like these which are spenny but lovely.

The hyacinth fragrance is like spring, and seashore is a lovely fresh kitchen/bathroom appropriate fragrance.

Yeah it's just the artificial smell he hates. He's not keen on strong smells anyway and he hates my Chanel No 5 so it's sadly unused unless I go on a girlie night.

We've lit some scented candles and I've aired things out a bit so hopefully it'll be ok.

I didn't want to make DH feel uncomfortable :(

Your DH sounds just like me - I can't bear perfume either, on myself or anyone else, and always choose unscented products if at all possible.
Scented candles are probably the least evil of the smelly things, so hopefully that'll be a good compromise for you!

We both smoke but we smoke near an open door so the smoke isn't affecting the children so much and obviously we have to wash and air things regularly so we don't get that awful smoke smell.

I don't think DH cares as long as it smells nice but not overpowering to the point where he knows I've been a-spritzing.

Yankee candles are wonderful.
