DS 1 - Rowan

DS 2 - Robin (not here yet).

What do you think?

My neighbours have 7 children, both parents' names begin with J and so do all 7 of the children .... I often wonder about the post in that house when they get older. Two R's in the same house seems positively mild compared.

I wouldn't use them for the same reasons as a few other have mention - too similar, but also down to the fact the Rowan is predominantly a girls name where i live and although I know it's one of the names that can be used by both it would put me off since all the Rowans I know are girls

Actually - that's a thought, Robin is one of those too isn't it, albeit spelled slightly differently Confused

Names are a minefield - Call them what you like and don't give two hoots what anyone else thinks Grin

OooohShiny · 25/08/2011 11:56

oh jesus - I just realised you have a Rowan already Blush

I think they are too similar. Especially if they are close in age and grow up looking alike. But if you love these names best, then use them.

ShoutyHamster · 25/08/2011 13:14

Sorry, but although they are lovely names I think they're too similar. It just sounds a bit twee and cutesy together - it's what you do for pairs of pets.

Tilly and Tinkie the rabbits

Billy and Bobby the hamsters

Rowan and Robin the guinea pigs.

Sorry OP.

Better to have different initials IMO.

I know a family with exactly those names for their sons - I don't know if they get confused but I do!

Robin was my dad's name - I love it, double thumbs up from me :)
