On the first of august I won something for our holiday, we were due to leave 12th August. The listing had a lot of waffle, manufacturers details and specs, but nothing stood out so didn't really read every word. Our holiday came and went and it arrived 21st August. I had a quick look at the listing again and still didn't see anything obvious for the delay so I left neutral feedback stating length of time it had taken to arrive and that was it.
I got an email today from the seller asking me to revise the feedback as she didn't think it was fair as she had clearly stated in her listing she was going on holiday and would be back mid August. I went to the listing and read every word, right in the middle of the manufacturers details in the exact same size and font of text it says 'On holiday till 12th August'. I don't feel that is clear.
I have not changed the feedback but have added a note saying ' listing stated delay, only found this when told, not clear!
AIBU or should I have changed it?

I've changed my mind. I thought you were being AbitU but not anymore.

She was back on the 12th, a Friday but didnt post till the following Thursday which is not impressive. I know when you get back from hols you have stuff to do...mountains of washing, shopping etc and posting ebay items not top of the list. But maybe she needs to be a bit more organised when she lists if shes going on holiday or make clear in the listing when she is likely to post the item.

missed the bit about her not posting until 5 days after returning from holiday. That's crap, item should have been packaged up and ready to post as soon as she got home.

I sell alot on ebay and generally post within 24 hours of payment 48 hours max.

I bought something on ebay recently, and the seller was away on holiday - but there was a blindingly clear notification on the listing that the item wouldn't be posted until after the date she returned from holiday.

OP - you should have read the listing properly, but equally the seller should have made it very clear indeed that she was away until the 12th, and she should have posted the item within a couple of days of returning from holiday, not 6 days later.

So you are being a bit unreasonable, but so is she.

I think it's perfectly fine to leave neutral feedback in this case. Don't worry about it.

keepingupwiththejoneses · 23/08/2011 15:17

Thanks for your replies, I just got an email back saying 'well everyone else was ok' Hmm
I have also won another item from a seller who is on holiday, it is in double size lettering at the top of the listing so I don't have a problem waiting, as it was said earlier the details where hidden within the listing so not very clear there would be a wait never mind almost 3 weeks.

I'm curious why you didn't contact the seller and ask her to explain the delay? She could have then pointed out what the listing said and then you could have decided whether the delay after the holiday was excessive.

I don't think neutral or neg should be left unless you have contacted the seller, she may have given you the opportunity to return the (now unwanted) item. If she had, in my view you would still have been responsible for wasted postage fees.

I think you have been unreasonable as you do not indicate a problem with the item itself and it was stated in the description that it would not be posted until after the day you were going away so it could never possibly have arrived on time for your holiday.

It may have been written in the same font as the other stuff but it wasn't hidden or made smaller to try to deceive, you just didn't see it.

keepingupwiththejoneses · 23/08/2011 15:25

After that email I have looked at her feedback, just to see if it was just me, it wasn't. She has had 3 neutral in the last week, although ebay is still showing her as having 100% positive feedback Hmm not sure how that works.

But it was hidden, it was at the end of the second of 5 paragraphs of description.

I did email, with no reply.
