AIBU to start really bugging my GP after six months of TTC?

AIBU to schedule myself another GP appointment (after having one last month and a blood test with no negative results) asking my GP to help us TTC. I had a blood test for cysts last month which came up negative and am just now wondering if I need to hold off for another few months/year or call ahead and ask my GP to give us more advice.

I am not trying to be unreasonable I just wish she (my gp) either tell me that she cant do anymore or I need to wait.

Has your DP been checked out too?

I am not sure that your GP will do anything unless you are over 35ish, and have been ttc for over 12 months tbh.....

Yes, I think that would probably be your GPs next suggestion anyway...to send him for a sperm count

If you're over 35, definitely go - a lot of advice is to see a GP after six months in that age group. Under it, no harm in making an appointment.

It will depend on your age how quickly they act. Try not to get too worked up, that may be the problem! The next step would be to check out DP/DH.

I'd say you're not unreasonable, but be prepared for the GP to not do anything just yet.

Depends on:

1. Your age
2. If you are aware of when you are ovulating and how often you are having sex.

If you are under 35 and possibly haven't been having enough sex at the right time then definitely wait. If you are over 35 and know you've been timing in right for 6 months then definitely make an appointment.

I know my GP said they wouldn't do anything till it had been over a year. Going by the conception forums, this seems to be the norm.

My GP referred us to a specialist after 6 months, but I knew I had an 8 day luteal phase from charting. Then found out I was pregnant just before our first meeting with the consultant. Good luck - I think worth pressing if you have reason to think there may be a problem?

Did you come off the pill 6 months ago? It can take ages to get back to normal.

We were very lucky with our two pregancies and it happened straight away both times, but I did come off the pill a year before and we were using condoms immediately before starting TTC. It took my periods about 9 months to sort themselves out so it was a lucky stroke that I stopped the pill when I did, really.

YABU if you're under 35. Anything up to a year is normal, it's just statistics.

YANBU if you're over 35 - it's recommended to see the GP after 6 months of trying if no luck.

What have you tried? Ovulation predictor kits? Charting your temperature?

Are you having regular cycles? How old are you?
