to think that holidaymakers leaving towels on sunbeds and disappearing for the morning/afternoon are selfish!

I cannot understand why people on holiday have the urge to put their beach towels on sunbeds and then disappear for the rest of the day, why do people do this, I have seen people as early as 6.00am rushing to put their towels on sunbeds in prime positions. I think hotels should stop this selfish act by thier guests and remove towels on unused sunbeds. Or put notices up that this is not allowed.

It isn't just sunbeds. A few years ago we went to a caravan park and the venue for the evening entertainment didn't have enough tables. We got there one night & nowhere to sit but an empty table piled with coats. We watched it for about 30 mins and nobody came so we moved the coats and sat down. When the family finally arrived about 2 hours later they were incensed that we'd dared to move their coats and had a right go at us.

I have just come back from a holiday where sunbed wars ware rife every morning.

So it seemed obvious to me to just join in. I'm not proud of being part of it, but honestly, what else are you supposed to do? I'm on holiday, I don't want to get in to an arguement every single day with a new family for having moved their towels and end up being the hated family!

It's much easier to just get up early, reserve your beds like everyone else, then go back to bed and have breakfast, arriving at the desired place when ready. So why not?

The thing is that everyone wanted to be near the pool where they could watch their children from the sunbeds, understandable in my opinion. Everyone had an equal chance of getting a space, there were enough beds and shades, it just depended on where you wanted to sit. If anyone had thrown my towels in the pool I would not have been happy, and I would never dream of doing that to someone else property.

Well fuck me, I have heard it all now...

Come down this morning and there was a woman hovering with towels and as soon as she saw where I was heading, she went straight to the sun beds and plonked her stuff down. Fair enough, it is still early, loads and loads of sun beds available. I choose another one (not on the same row, but the next section up which is separated by a flower bed.

I start putting my towels down and then she comes up to the beds behind me and puts towels down on two beds and puts a bag too on one of them, I asked if she didn't want the other ones anymore as I prefer to sit where she was she said "oh yes of course we do, we have four every day but we like to have more sun in the morning and leas in the afternoon hence the four" Hmm - two in different locations.

Now that is taking the piss.
