So. Men can land on the moon. 65 year olds can get pregnant. But there's no way of stopping an 18 day period apart from stupid fucking hormones that take 2 days to work, 4 days to turn you into a homicidal maniac and 2 days after you stop (for the safety of everyone around you) you get the worst period you've had in years. We're talking rusty knives in the c-section scar.

Cunting bastards.

PerAr6ua · 19/08/2011 21:13

Sorry - I don't know if you've had all the kids you want, but if you have then ask about endometrial ablation... the only thing that used to stop me killing everyone around me was that I was so doubled over with pain, I passed out if I straightened up.

3 months since I had the ablation and I'm now one of those irritating bitches from a Tampon advert - a couple of mini size tampons in my bag for a full day at work and I'm good to go so much better...

PerAr6ua · 19/08/2011 21:41

I've been wondering about thatAce. I've got my one, He's 7 and I'm old enough for worry to outwigh optimism so short of hysterectomy ablation does seem like a good idea...

Mind you, had a D&C for similar stuff in early 20s and that just set me uup with an infection. So then had 10 years of not knowing if I was ferile or not.

I fucking hate gynaes.

Why are so many gynaes male? It's like trying to explain mgraine to someone who's never had a headache. FFS.

AND they tell you you're wrong when you say which ovary you're ovulating from. (DS was from left, right is very wrong)

Oooh, sorry, got distracted and didn't realise you'd asked me something!

I'm not exactly small, more of a fat lass curvy woman. I don't know if that makes a difference. I also suffer with really painful periods, I've been prescribed mefenamic (sp?) acid which helps a little with the pain.

The only thing that truly stops them is being pregnant.

On the plus side though, had no issues with it, it's an uncomfortable feeling when it's put in/taken out but only while it's happening, and it does seem that I'm the exception not the norm when it comes to the whole period-stopping thing.

PerAr6ua · 19/08/2011 22:35

mefenamic acid is rubbish, unless you have a cast-iron stomach.

Here's the thing. I've been smoking and drinking for years. But can't cope with bastard painkillers and hormones.

Surely it's not just me?

OP posts:
AfternoonDelight · 19/08/2011 22:39

Everyone has different tolerances. I didn't know mefenamic acid was hard to take until you just told me!

But then I have no tolerance for alcohol, two glasses of wine and I'm pissed.

PerAr6ua · 19/08/2011 22:48

I can do 3 doses a month and then I can't eat for a day. Which would be great if I didn't then crave carbs.

Fuck me I'm on a self-pity roll Grin

Oh, it sounds awful. No wonder you are fed up.

My friend had one of those ablution (what's it called again) thingies and went from super heavy never ending periods to very light short periods. Completely changed her life, she is so much happier now.

PerAr6ua · 19/08/2011 23:12

It does sound good...

Is there an Ovary Astrology where your child's character and future is determined by which ovary was involved?

Sorry I've been away and I've had a couple.

PerAr6ua · 19/08/2011 23:24

nope, just know I've only ever got pregnant from the left (1 plus 2 missed) and the right feels like it's ripping roughly every other month...

Mirena doesn't work for everyone.....not that any bastard bothered to tell me that Angry I had a 9 month-long period, before I begged the GP to take it out...stupid gynae couldn't see the problem with that though.

I've the endometrial ablation too.....lucky me. I used to have 14 day 'rusty knife in C-section scar' periods like you describe OP, with extreme flooding, but now have them just as bad, except with a break of 3-5 days in between so effectively like two a month. And now they are so irregular, I never know when the fuckers will strike :(

And, nice hot water bottle on the tummy no longer works....since my section scar wasn't stitched properly, neither was my resulting, incisional hernia, so I now have nerve damage too. How the hell can I feel period pain, but not hot or cold Confused

Can't take Tranexamic and Mefenamic acid either as they make me throw up....

Hormone injections were interesting....four years on and I'm still having the 'hot flushes' side effects.....

I really must go back and see what exciting treatments they have stored up for me to try next....I'm 34, can't have more children due to shitty hernia and ruined stomach, DH has had the snip anyway, but still the gyneacologist won't let me have a hysterectomy :(
