52 stone mother

She wants to be the worlds biggest woman. She says she is trying to stay healthy by walking a bit each day, but it cant be good for her body to be like that, and her sons could be left without a mother.

she has probably had help coming out of her ears (and our taxes)

she has made a choice, she doesnt want help

Oh look, Dennis has joined this thread...Hmm

You're in America, dearie?

Is the welfare system not very different over there? I thought you guys didn't have as much support as over here.

How does it work? I thought benefits are temporary over there, say, you'll get unemployment for X weeks, etc.

I must admit, my knowledge of the american system is limited to what I pick up on judge judy, so I can't claim to be an expert Grin

Birdsgottafly · 18/08/2011 12:35

It seams that she makes her money from 'modeling', so isn't being supported by welfare;

I agree that she has mental health issues. I simply can not imagine anyone (let alone someone with children) making such a choice whilst of sound mind.

GypsyMoth · 18/08/2011 12:38

Why assume she has MH issues?

Lots if people do dangerous things which threaten their lives.

Drugs
Alcohol
Smoking

She is well aware of what she is doing

SoupDragon · 18/08/2011 12:39

" I'm still very healthy, very mobile, and active"

So why des she need a mobility scooter?

Delusional. Poor family.

worraliberty · 18/08/2011 12:41

I think she has mental health issues too.

And if she hasn't, she's pretty fucking sick to make herself deliberately disabled....especially when she's chosen to have children.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 18/08/2011 12:48

Her boys look so unhappy :(
What a selfish woman. I am overweight and trying to lose it for the sake of my children because I want to be fit and healthy enough to look after my grandchildren one day :)

TheMagnificentBathykolpian · 18/08/2011 12:51

Drugs, alcohol and cigarettes are physically addictive substances. If you are addicted to something then that is a reason why you do it. You may start it thinking that you'll be ok, it's a bit of fun... but then you become an addict. And you behave like an addict. ie, the substance you are addicted to matters a lot more to you than some idea of something that might happen to you as a result of it. You close your mind to the danger because you need the substance.

Is that a mental health problem? No. It's a physical addiction. Your body is physically dependent on a substance and you physically suffer if it is taken away. You also become mentally / emotionally dependent on it.

Her issue is different. She is trying to reach 100 stone, reading between the lines, because she wants to be lusted over by men who love massive women. And she doesn't believe (or maybe doesn't care) that she'll die. But she's made certain plans for her children in case she does die - so some part of her knows she's killing herself. Yet this need to be lusted over by these men means more to her than being there for her children.

That is a mental health issue.

TheMagnificentBathykolpian · 18/08/2011 12:55

Oh, and it being a mental health issue doesn't mean that she is not well aware what she is doing.

People who starve themselves are aware that they are doing it
People who attempt (or commit) suicide are aware that they are doing it

Yes both of these things can be done because the person was suffering from an emotional or mental health problem/

Just because the reason for an action may be mental health, doesn't mean you won't be aware you are doing it. It just means that perhaps you won't think there is anything wrong with doing it. It will make sense to you, or maybe you'll feel you HAVE to, maybe it's a compulsion. etc etc

You don't necessarily do things without realising. You may choose to do things that you would not choose to do if you did not have an issue with your mental health.

duckdodgers · 18/08/2011 13:36

"SaraSidle Why assume she has MH issues"

I havent assumed, I think its highly likely she has or else she wouldnt be eating herself to death, distorting her body in the process. This is just a question of risky behaviour that threatens her life such as smoking its more complex and deeper than that by the looks of it.

By saying "she is well aware of what she is doing" implies that you are being rather judgmental, forgive me if you didnt mean this. Or else you dont have that much knowledge and understanding of mental health and how it can affect your functioning.

Im a Psychiatric Nurse and have came across people that overeat to the point that their bodies are grossly obese in an attempt to cover up all sorts of emotional difficulties such as dealing with abuse. If they can make themselves as physically unnatractive as possible then they feel "safe". Clearly something is wrong psychologically with this woman. Whether she wants help or not she needs it!

dearieme - since you obviously live in the US you must be aware of how the American welfare sytem works compared to my poor lack of knowledge of it here in the UK, perhaps you could inform us how exaclty your taxes have helped this woman so far?
