I know - bloody Facebook!
Someone I know (parent at school) wrote this as their FB status today:

THE RIOTERS PRAYER........Our father, who art in prison, my mum knows not his name, thy Riots come, read it in the sun, in Birmingham, as it is in London, give us this day our Welfare bread & forgive us our looting, as we're happy to loot those who defend stuff against us, lead us not into employment but deliver us free housing, for thine is the teles, the Burberry & the Barcardi, forever and ever amen.

Am I just being sensitive about the single parent bashing going on at the moment, or am I justified in wanting to hit him over the head with a big stick?

Pandemoniaa - I have learnt quite a lot about "friends" since joining FB and fallen out with a few. Not just over this.

Fabby I agree that there are a number (I don't know that "majority" would be true... but don't know that it isn't) of single parents on social who are "chavs" (however you wish to define that) with kids to different fathers. Does that mean that their children were the sole reason the riots happened? Are they all evil? I think it's a gross generalisation.

Where is the statistic that says most single mothers are chavs fabby? Hmm

Btw
Your vodka is Russian. Your pizza is Italian. Your kebab is Turkish. Your democracy is Greek. Your coffee is Brazilian. Your movies are American. Your tea is Sri Lankan. Your shirt is Indian. Your oil is Saudi Arabian. Your car is Japanese. Your electronics are Chinese. Your numbers Arabic, your letters Latin. And you complain that your neighbour is an immigrant? Pull yourself together. I know the point of this thread is how shit c&p statuses are..but I've just used this

My son posted this one that I was tempted to copy... Grin

Hello everyone. Look at your status, now back to mine, now back to yours, now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn?t mine. But if you stopped posting about other things and made this your status, yours could be like mine. Look down, back up. Where are you? You?re on Facebook, reading the status your status could be like :D

DioneTheDiabolist · 17/08/2011 23:08

What are the stats there Fabby?

igetmorelovefromthecat · 17/08/2011 23:13

Your twatty posts have been a source of mirth for me for some time, Fabby, but that one takes the biscuit.

Having different fathers for your children does not make you a chav. I am living proof of this as my 2 daughters have different fathers and I am most definitely not a chav. And no, I am not on the social either, I run a successful business. So, in the nicest possible way, go and fuck yourself love.

fortyplus · 17/08/2011 23:28

Several of my friends are single mothers. They're certainly not chavs. Two of them are widows - so happily married for years - working and paying taxes but still single mums now. Judge away, Fabby - I suspect I'd rate them more highly than I would you.

MoominsAreScary · 17/08/2011 23:41

igetmorelove well said, getting a bit bored of the single parent bashing, my kids have different dads and I'm not a Chav or on benefits

I'm actually suspicious that the tory government is churning out a lot of the facebook status crap themselves! The newspapers are pure propoganda right now, so it would be very strange if they were not using FB too for their evil ends.

I saw the Lords Prayer one and thought it was pretty sickening. I think the most worrying thing is the fact that so many people are falling for this kind of shit. Everyone seems very easily led by the media and opinions are just spat out parrot fashion, no one I know is actually thinking for themselves and I have lost respect for many of my friends over this rubbish.

I can remember being a kid and reading about the propoganda during the wars and thinking, how on earth did people believe this stuff, were they really so naive?

ddubsgirl · 17/08/2011 23:45

saw that last night and did leave a coment that most of them were twatty rich kids!

the granny one i love that saw that couple of weeks ago,did make me giggle!

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 17/08/2011 23:49

Just to dispel a few pieces of single parent BS (yes, Fabby, I'm looking at you...

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 17/08/2011 23:51

A friend of a friend posted about the response of the 'young piglet' at the 'pigsty' when she phoned them to report the loss of her keys - and then shrugged when people found this offensive.

redexpat · 18/08/2011 01:34

Fabby a good proportion of the royal family are single parents!
