Did anyone feel that the family who put their children outside, smacked the child twice over a couple of minutes as punishment are bordering on abusive?

They also use the smacking method apparently this helps..helps who exactly?

What ever happened to the naughty step and time out?

Got to say I don't think they were abusive. My mum threw me down the stairs, broke my ear drum, threw me out the house in my nightie for hours, put my Christmas presents in the bin, told me that she wished I'd never been born, sat on my chest and pounded my head into the floor, made me take her diazepam tablets when I was seven because she'd had enough of me, screamed at me until I threw up and finally left me on the doorstep of social services and told them that I was a horrible child and she didn't want to see me again.

That's abuse. That couple are just a bit harsh.

I would never smack by the way though.
