I own a few pairs of Jimmy Choos and some have more robust soles than others. It depends on they style and type of shoe. I am however not disappointed in the quality or durability of any of them. Where some show signs of lots of wear and tear it is because I have done something to them.
My oldest pair is now over 10 years old and still in very good condition, they have obviously been worn and in that time have had new soles and heels but I'd expect that. I don't go shopping, walk the dog or do the school run in my evening sandals though - maybe that's why mine are so far surviving.
Other pairs I've got have had minor heel repairs when they've been scuffed or I've caught the heel in a grid or between paving flags. It happens but that doesn't make them not fit for purpose or shoddy quality.
The shoe shown in the article has clearly been damaged by the owner. Those heels didn't scuff themselves in thin air. Also the chunk of leather taken from the sole is not wear and tear - it's been repeatedly put under pressure to do that.
They are very clear in store and online about different shoes for different occasions - if you visit a Jimmy Choo outlet or look at their website you see that boots, day shoes, statement, bridalwear, evening etc... are all very different styles and the thickness and durability of sole does vary according to the type.
If the shoes are genuinely faulty Jimmy Choo would have the means and technology to test and inspect them and their customer service is usually impeccable. I can't see them not providing a replacement, repair or refund if that is the case.
